Hello, my name is Eunsoo Song, and I was born in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. When I was seven, I lived in Ilsan for a year, and at the age of eight, I moved to Seoul. I have been living in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul ever since, and I am now 22 years old.
I graduated from Gaeun Elementary School, Gaeun Middle School, and Seoul National University High School, all located in Seongbuk-gu. Currently, I am studying at Gyeongin National University of Education.
Since I was young, I have frequently traveled both within Korea and abroad with my family. Among those trips, a family trip to Jeju Island remains the most memorable. After becoming an adult, I have also traveled with my high school and university friends to various cities and vacation spots, including Busan, Daejeon, Daegu, Jeju Island, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Bangkok in Thailand, and Da Nang in Vietnam.
In the future, I hope to continue traveling to many more places with my family and friends and gain new and meaningful experiences.

The place above is Jeongneungcheon Stream, located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. Jeongneungcheon is a stream that flows through the areas of Seongbuk-gu and Dongdaemun-gu. The water originates from Bukhansan and eventually flows into Cheonggyecheon, forming part of Seoul’s urban water system. In the past, it had the characteristics of a natural stream, but during Seoul’s urban development it was restored and improved. Today, it has eco-friendly walking paths, bicycle lanes, and resting spaces. It is also an ecological habitat where various organisms live. In addition, it serves as a community space where residents can walk and exercise, while also helping prevent flooding and reduce temperatures in the city.

A Field Study of Urban Spaces Around Gyeongbokgung Palace
Samcheong-dong Perfume Street- Samcheong-dong Perfume Street was a pleasant place to walk, where traditional Korean hanok houses harmoniously coexisted with modern flagship stores of fragrance brands such as Aesop and Tamburins. The combination of traditional architecture and contemporary commercial spaces created a unique urban landscape. The lively atmosphere, where both tourists and local residents gathered, was particularly appealing. This site can be used as an example for learning about urban functions and commercial geography. Students can analyze location and commercial districts to understand the significance of urban regeneration and specialized commercial spaces, while also exploring how traditional and modern elements interact in urban landscapes.
Deoksung Girls’ High School- Deoksung Girls' High School presented a unique atmosphere through the harmony of modern architectural styles and its traditional surrounding environment. It was interesting to see how the school serves not only as an educational institution but also as a place that reflects the history and cultural context of the region. On a personal level, the site was especially meaningful because it is my mother’s alma mater. Established in 1920, the year following the March 1st Movement, the school was founded based on the spirit of the movement and therefore holds significant historical value. Located within a traditional urban setting, its historical significance is even more apparent. This site can be used as a case study for understanding the location and role of educational facilities within a city.
Yulgok-ro Alleyways- The most impressive aspect of the Yulgok-ro alleyways was that familiar franchise stores had been designed in the style of traditional hanok buildings. In addition, features such as maps of Gyeongbokgung Palace and the surrounding streets embedded in the pavement made exploring the area enjoyable. This location can be used to help students understand the characteristics and transformation of urban landscapes through the integration of traditional architecture and modern commercial facilities. Students can also compare alleys and main roads to learn about the internal structure of cities. Furthermore, elements such as pavement maps can serve as educational resources for developing spatial awareness and map-reading skills.
Jeongdok Library- Jeongdok Library was a place where I could experience a calm and relaxing atmosphere despite being located in the heart of the city. What stood out most was its contrast with the busy and crowded areas around Gyeongbokgung Palace. The existence of such a peaceful space within a bustling urban environment was particularly appealing. This site can be used as an example for understanding the role of public facilities in urban areas. By comparing it with nearby commercial and tourist spaces, students can explore different urban functions and consider why recreational and resting spaces are necessary within cities.
