My name is Thao Van, and I am from Haiphong, Vietnam.
Since high school, I have dreamed of studying abroad in Korea, and I came here to make that dream come true. In August 2025, I graduated from Soongsil University with a degree in Korean Language and Literature.
I not only want to challenge myself in a new country beyond my limits, but I also wish to learn more about Korean culture and people. Having lived in Korea for over five years, I have gained many valuable experiences, and I hope to continue studying and working here to learn even more in the future.
I would be delighted to share with you the culture, language, and unique aspects of my hometown. Vietnam is a rapidly developing country, and many Koreans are already living and working there. In particular, Vietnamese food is incredibly diverse and delicious—you would truly be missing out if you haven’t tried it yet! Vietnamese people are also very kind and warm-hearted, so you can easily find help wherever you go.
I am truly happy and honored to share stories about my beautiful country with all of you.
PHAM THI THAO VAN
Hello Thao Van 😊💜! My name is Lerato, and I’m from South Africa 🇿🇦. It’s wonderful to hear about your experiences in Korea and your passion for sharing Vietnamese culture. I’m curious, what is one traditional Vietnamese custom or dish that you think everyone in Korea should try? Also, how has living in Korea for over five years influenced your perspective on Vietnamese culture and your hometown? I’d love to learn more!”
ReplyDeleteOf course! I'm really happy that you took the time to read my post and showed interest in Vietnamese culture 💜. Ummmm… honestly, Vietnamese cuisine is incredibly rich and diverse. If you ever get the chance to visit Vietnam, I highly recommend trying bún chả or nem cuốn (spring rolls). they're both iconic dishes from Hanoi. Although there are quite a few Vietnamese restaurants in Korea, the flavor just doesn’t compare to the authentic taste back home.
DeleteI’ve been living and studying in Korea for five years now, and during that time, I’ve grown a lot in terms of independence and maturity. I’ve also learned and experienced many aspects of Korean culture – some of which are quite different from Vietnamese culture. But I respect those differences and have gradually adapted to them. I truly believe that my five-year journey in Korea has been a meaningful and valuable experience. I hope one day you'll get to visit Vietnam and experience all of this for yourself. Feel free to reach out to me if you ever come to Vietnam! Welcome to Vietnam hihih
