Panama is a country located in Central America, located between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Due to these geographical characteristics, the Panama Canal has established itself as a landmark representing the country. The Panama Canal is a canal that connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans across the Isthmus of Panama, and is a structure that has a profound impact on global maritime trade. Previously, it was necessary to continue trade activities around the coast of South America, but after the Panama Canal was built, it became possible to use a relatively fast and efficient route across the Isthmus of Panama. This made the economic and strategic importance of the Panama Canal more prominent.
Meanwhile, the Isthmus of Panama is a narrow piece of land between the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, connecting North and South America. The Isthmus is estimated to have formed about 3 million years ago, and is expected to have formed between North and South America, with deposits filling the gap between the islands. The formation of the Isthmus of Panama is considered a major geological event that historically changed the flow of ocean currents and thus greatly affected the global climate and biosphere.
Recently, the weather in Korea has remained almost clear, but the temperature is still not high, so it seems that cold air remains. Originally, warm temperatures were maintained during this period as spring weather, but recently, this pattern seems to have changed. Through this, we can see that the phenomenon of abnormal climate is gradually approaching us. The Republic of Korea seeks to protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a campaign called 'carbon neutral' related to climate change.
In this regard, I was curious about how Panama's recent climate change progressed and how it responded in a policy manner, so I investigated the weather and abnormal climate policies of Panama countries.
The recent weather in Panama is generally mild, but it has been found that the frequency of natural disasters is increasing and precipitation is decreasing day by day. Panama is a place with high biodiversity, and it is expected to be greatly affected by abnormal climates. Accordingly, it was found that Panama is carrying out a number of policies related to climate change. Among them, policies to eradicate illegal logging and reconstruct forests to maintain a carbon-negative state focused on policies to protect the environment in relation to Panama's characteristics. Panama's forests absorb more carbon than the amount of greenhouse gases emitted from the entire country, so this forest is of great importance. However, as the number of indiscriminate logging increases, forests are lost, and this is a problem directly related to global warming, so logging is prohibited and trees are planted to restore land to protect forests.
Questions arise about how these forest protection policies are affecting the international world and whether these policies harm the people, but I intend to resolve them through further investigation by communicating with people in whatsapp later.
