GG Summer School 2024: Renata
Hellooo everyone, my name is Renata, my favorite color is blue as with shades of gray, I love painting in watercolor, listening to music, eating, sleeping and of course I love reading (nothing very scientific), I’m really interested in other countries cultures, food, history and art.
I'm from Mexico more specifically from the capital, Mexico City, a rather curious place where you can find literally everything.( if you want to know more about Mexico it’s at the end of my experiences )
Currently (2 agust 2025) it is my third year visiting Korea so here are all my experiences:
-2023 summer WSJ(world scout jamboree)
At first , I was a little nervous getting on the plane it was my fist time btw, but at the same time I was very excited to finally enjoy this experience will all my scout friends.
When I got on the plain I saw that I had a very funny seatmate , a couple of hours later we landed at Narita airport, we take a tiny tour in Japan.
Then We took another flight From Haneda Airport to Seoul Airport, we finally arrived in Korea!
During the first days I spent my time enjoying my bus trips with my friends🚐, we visited the Seoul Tower where I bought some gifts for my family, I also visited interesting museums and temples.
IN THE CAMP, finaly we are at the wsj, I had to meany things to trade and I was really excited for that, but to be honest it was the hottest days of my entire life, I spend my days trying to not be in the sun, exchanging things with other cultures, ans sharing Mexican culture
-2024 summer first GG summer school ( one of my favorite summer’s )
I was invited to participate in the first ggsummer school, after two flights of almost 15 hours and waiting for more than a day alone at Istanbul airport (it was very fun, I make some friends there and I still talking to them ) I arrived in Korea to attend the last days, where I met the beautiful Naila and Ellis, we took some photos in the fotoboth, we visited the Han river, we ate very delicious meals, talked to many Korean students and recorded many videos
You have a very quiet week where we learned about the history of North Korea and South Korea, the independence, we visited some museums, which for me it was really interesting because I use to see YouTube videos about history of other countries and some important events so I was happy , we also visit the unification center, Gunsan there met about the place and made many friends, Prazime joined the trip with us, we recorded more videos, I bought things, and I tried a lot of new food
During the next few days Abeza be unique to the trip with us, we were 5 girls each from a different continent and to be honest we made a very strong bond, like a small family, we had the fortune to be able to explore Seoul on our own like myondong where we went by subway, we also visited the han river at night to see the show at night, we met some Mexican friends who happened to be in Korea that same week, and we celebrated the 18th birthday of my dear Ellisss
Then after a sad goodbye to Elliss, Naila, Prazime and Abeza it was time to go to Mexico again.

I was imbited as an ambassador to the second summer school, this year I also made a stopover in Istanbul but I didn't make so many friends, I spent my first days with Alice where we became very good friends, we visited the Lotte aquarium where we learned about marine animals, I went alone to an art museum that I LOVED the techniques everything they wanted to share and see how each one has their own touch, after a while Alice had to return home and I was left whith no other teen .
Then it was the summer school where we saw very interesting topics, and I led a class where other participants presented online, I visited the old BTS building that to be honest I like a lot hahaha, I visited some high schools and I exposed about Mexico, about food traditions etc, I also visited a primary school where everyone was super tender.
I personally invited Daeun Lee, Yeju Park and Rahn to the embassy because I love them very much and I loved that they met another Mexican and learned a lot about the culture, then we went out to visit the area where we went to a market learning more about how to use the subway

-bring your medicine in case you need it

Hi Renata! It must have been so exciting to visit both Japan and South Korea. What was your favorite part about each country?
ReplyDeleteHiiiii it’s Renata , yes it was so exited!!, I think that my favorite part of Japan It was how beautiful the city looked at night, the food and the structure of the temples,
Delete-my favorite part of Korea was the food😋, the way the stars look in a different way, the history that I learned from the temples and museums
Your journey sounds amazing. The food in both Japan and Korea must have been such a treat. Did you get to try any new dishes that you hadn't tasted before?

DeleteHiii bright, some our traditional things or things that are not so traditional and we also usually celebrate are “día de muertos” day of the death , “semana santa “That is something more religious but the majority celebrates it, Independence Day, “posada” we do that in Christmas
ReplyDeleteKiiiiiii Kellen, one of our most beautiful festivals in my opinion is "el día de Los muertos " the day of the dead, it is very beautiful since it represents that the dead come to this world for one night to be with their families and be remembered, It is also not so much a festival but for Independence Day a lot of people gather in the center of the city more specifically in the "zocalo" for the scream” that the president do

DeleteHiiii the day of the death “día de Los muertos” is celebrated the fist and second of November, but in our case we commemorate the death people in general, to be remember and like the families feel close to them those days we also put and ofrenda for the desasead whit his photo his favorite food , candles , salt, water,so that they can significantly take that food and not be hungry, We also put cempasúchil flowers so that the dead can see the way home to see their families, that that’s,we also have a big festival in the center of the city is very touristic if you come one day to Mexico you might like it a lot, it's beautiful and quite emotional, And how do you commemorate them? Is there some kind of ceremony?
ReplyDeleteWe celebrate the Independence Day in 15-16 of September but the scream is on 16, It is very interesting that we have many things in common!!!, what about you when do you celebrate Independence Day?
DeleteYes, we also commemorate the tutsi people(innocent people) that were killed in 1994 genocide that occured in our country(100 days)from 7th April up to 13th July every year so that their families feel relieved &be able to reduce their agony of losing their people during Genocide period
DeleteI wish that i could get to come to mexico someday and attend in that memorial period and independence festival.And here,we celebrate independence day on 1st july every yearly. About commemoration,we light up the candles& flame of rememberance that is lit by his excellence(President of Rwanda)which’ll burn for the next 100days as the country honours the victims of the tragic massacre

ReplyDeleteThere’re too many traditional cultures that’re celebrated in Rwanda such as “kwita izina”which describes gorilla naming which is held every year for newly born gorilla in the volcanoes national park,”Rwanda’s music&dance heritage”which reflects history,values and traditions of its people according to rhythms,instruments&traditions.”Hobe Rwanda”which occurs every september and during this time,Rwandans display their culture entirely(through traditional music&dances)…😊😊

Some tradition that I think that it's to Artistic it's “tapetes ” mats , is in honor of Saint Michael the Arccangel. They are made with sawdust painted in different colors by hand and molded in an artisanal way with hands and wooden shovels, they are giant drawn images that can to charge complete streets, it is placed every year on October 6 in some streets, I have an a known whose family is like professional in this and they make all their materials and create some designs

DeleteYes, i like to go to see them cause it seems so adorable, yes i have favourite traditional song called”kanjogera” by masamba intore. And i like to listen to music most of my time😘.
ReplyDeleteIn my case I don't have a traditional song that I know much about, but I I find one I will tell you 😋, in Mexico there is a singer that we all know, his name is Luis Miguel and they call him the sun of Mexico, he is soooo famous , for musical tastes, I like almost everything, and I also listen music most of my time !! is so relaxing!! I will listen kanjogera,it sure sounds good

I thing that the best songs are “ahora te puedes marchar “ “ la incondicional” bot my favorite one is “ la chica de el bikini azul “ , and Saint Michael of the Arcangel is more like a religious thing from what I know, do you have something similar ?
DeleteYes, i think because in catholics, there’re too many saints that’re celebrated everyday but its depend on the days

ReplyDeleteAnd Renata, From what i know , Mexico is the famous in movies acted, so is Cinema the most entertainment thing that is practiced over there than the others? Or does high investment favours Cinema industry(movies) among the other entertainment suchas songs??
DeleteHello, I'm the film industry is quite popular in Mexico, the truth is I'm not very informed about that part but I know that it is an important part generating cultural value, as for music we also have a lot of variety and many of them are very good we have mariachis which are very popular,how about you in your opinion what industry is more popular? And how about sports?
DeleteOk, in my opinion, i think that music is the best popular industry in Rwandan entertainment and then sport comes next to it, movie is not influenced at high level

DeleteAfter being evacuated from jamboree, we first dropped by korean customs service where we stayed 2-3night& on the following day ,we passed by mud beach festival on our way to healing village(last destination)where we spent the remained days

In our case, the Lotte company took us to their facilities (Lotte Academy) to spend about 4 days where they took us to their park. After those days we went to the airport to leave the Mexicans who were already going to leave corea, and we stayed where according to me it was a sports village where I visited a Korean supermarket and saw a robot that helped bringing the meals in a restaurant , then we flew to Japan and stayed one night and we visited the city of Tokyo

ReplyDeleteI would say that it is the lights of the city at night and the beautiful traditional structures, also that there are many anime figures and interesting cafes as well as delicious food from street stands, how about you, do you visit Japan ?

ReplyDeleteThe story of you being able to eat stuff kinda triggers me though.
I’m a Scandinavian so I’m not always used to heat.
Therefore I were never hungry and I felt like the function of eating just stopped at some times. Street food would be amazing to try out but I just couldn’t. I still had fun patchtrade and plush collecting though. Again, I like how you edited your pictures.

DeleteA specific patch I liked was one of the meme where pikachu just looking confused. It’s the old design where pikachu was fat so I really liked it. Otherwise I really liked Mexico’s mascot’s for each group.
They were cool and cute at the same time.

DeleteI remember our tent badge having a lot of random stuff going on that we think is typically Swedish. Stuff like a moose, a red house, a five meter pole with greens tied around it, a Swedish flag and lots of other stuff mashed into one tent badge. Therefore that one didn’t end up being the quality I hoped it would. You know this thing they sent about having contact with other countries here in the weekend?

And from you’re question well it depends at this time it doesn’t rain to much and is cold in the morning and hot at night But we have some moths that it rains almost everyday and others that it’s hottt, but in my opinion summer in Korea is more hot than here

ReplyDeleteHiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii yes tangulu is awsome this year i also recent love rice cake!!, and i well be really happy if you come to Mexico I recommend enchiladas or in case that you don’t want spicy entomatadas but Mexican food is not that spicy I thing Korean and Mexican are similar so you can eat it, I also like enfrijoladas and if you want something sweet churros are súper wow, I can recomend you candy if you want

ReplyDeleteHellooooo yes I notice some things, first food we have a really instead of rice we eat tortilla, and something that is interesting for me is that there adults or older people eat fist in mexico we don’t mind about that, also in mexico we don’t have academy after class is so wears to find one is more like kumon bot not to much people go there
DeleteI also notice that you are to much organized i like that, así that fruits are really expensive there, here you can buy a big big watermelon maybe for 2 dollars, but I really enjoy visit Korea and watch all that differences it makes me want to learn more, i will thing for more things that I notice and I will tell it to you !
