Various institutions in the region are
providing comprehensive support for World Scout Jamboree participants who have
relocated to Incheon after withdrawing from the competition early.
On the 9th, Incheon city announced that it
is providing accommodation, medical services, transportation, and tourism
support for 4,258 participants from 38 countries, including Belgium, the UK,
and Italy, who are staying in Incheon. They arrived in Incheon on the 8th and
will stay until the 12th.
Initially, companies with dormitories and
training facilities in the area provided accommodation. Accommodation was
provided at Yonsei University International Campus, Incheon National
University, Inha University, Incheon National University of Education, Hana
Training Center, POSCO Human Resources Development Center, SK Mooi Training
Center, and the Bank of Korea Human Resources Development Institute.

Italian participants stayed, hosted a concert featuring student performances
such as taekwondo and K-pop dance clubs on the afternoon of the 8th.
The city, along with eight local hospitals,
is operating on-site medical clinics at 11 accommodation facilities where
Jamboree participants are staying. Participating hospitals include Incheon
Medical Center, Gil Hospital, Geomdan Tower Hospital, Naeun Hospital, New
Sungmin Hospital, Sejong Hospital, Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, and Inha
University Hospital.
Doctors and nurses are dispatched to each
accommodation facility to provide medical treatment and prescriptions, as well
as to support rapid hospital transfers in case of emergencies.
Medical consultations and prescriptions are
available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. At four large-scale accommodation
facilities, medical teams dispatched by the Medical Association provide
late-night medical services from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and medical personnel
dispatched by each district health center provide standby medications until 10
p.m. Ambulances are on standby at the accommodations for emergency situations.
A comfort bus called "With Heart"
is provided to tour the accommodations, offering stress measurements and
psychological counseling to members. Interpreter personnel are also deployed.
Incheon Fire Department conducts safety inspections of facilities being used as
accommodations.
The city also provides free public
transportation for participants. They can use the Incheon subway lines 1 and 2
and quasi-public city buses (34 companies and 186 routes) for free.
However, to use the transportation for
free, participants must wear Scout uniforms (including scarves) or carry ID
cards for identification. Fees are charged for travel outside of Incheon
(Seoul, Gyeonggi, etc.).
To ensure smooth access to public
transportation for participants, the city has requested cooperation from
related organizations such as the Incheon Transit Corporation and bus
transportation associations.
The city has also prepared various programs
for participants to experience Incheon's tourism and culture. Currently, four
special programs, including Eco City Tours, Industrial Tours, Songdo Night View
Programs, and City Tours, are being operated, each accommodating up to 2,000
participants.
Preparations are also underway for
exhibitions and sports experiential programs that can accommodate up to 5,500
participants. Local programs allowing experiences in various regions such as
the historic tour of the port, retro course, Wolmi Island, Songdo New City,
Seo-gu Cheongna, Namdong-gu, and Ganghwa transportation tour have been
arranged.
On the afternoon of the 8th, after the
participants arrived, they were given the opportunity to visit major tourist
attractions such as Songdo G Tower and the Museum of the Alphabet.
Free admission for participants has been
arranged for international conferences held in Incheon. Free admission is
available for the '2023 Incheon Esports Challenge Amateur Competition' on the
12th, the 'World Robot Olympiad Korea Competition,' and the '2023 World Cube
Association World Championship' on the 13th.
Plans are also underway to invite
participants to attend the United Incheon Regular League match on the 13th to
enjoy sports games.
A city official stated, "We will
provide various tourism and experiential programs so that Jamboree participants
can have special experiences in Incheon without inconvenience and focus on
safety."
