I was born in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province and lived in Siheung until I was 2 years old. Since then, he has moved to Osan, attended elementary, middle, and high schools, and has lived in Osan, Gyeonggi-do until now. In the meantime, I went on many domestic trips such as Jangseong, Damyang, and Busan, and I traveled to various countries such as Japan, Vietnam, and Taiwan. I want to travel to Switzerland in the future.
저는 전라남도 여수에서 태어났고 2살까지 시흥에서 지냈습니다. 이후 오산으로 이동하여 초중고를 다니고 현재까지 경기도 오산에 거주하고 있습니다. 그동안 장성, 담양, 부산 등 많은 국내여행을 다녔으며 일본, 베트남, 대만 등 다양한 나라를 여행했습니다. 향후에는 스위스로 여행을 가고 싶습니다.
The country I wanted to visit was Switzerland. The reason was simply that I thought its scenery was beautiful. However, through today’s presentation and class, I began to think more deeply about why I want to go to Switzerland. When I tried to recall what made me recognize Switzerland as a place with beautiful scenery, the first thing that came to mind was the movie The Sound of Music.
Since I was young, I often watched The Sound of Music both at school and at home. Because I was young at the time, I could not fully understand the storyline, so I do not remember the details of the plot very well. However, the fairy-tale-like scene where people sing together in a grassy field, which was my favorite scene, is still vividly remembered. Whenever I think of the title The Sound of Music, that scene immediately comes to mind. The scene always felt beautiful and romantic, and it left a strong impression on me. Through that scene, I think I naturally came to view Switzerland as a place with beautiful scenery and a sense of romance. This image seems to have remained in my subconscious and still makes me think of Switzerland as a country I want to visit at least once before I die.
Looking back on why I became interested in Switzerland’s scenery and why I want to visit the country, I realized that the influence of the movie The Sound of Music, which may have been idealized in my memory, was quite significant. Because of this, I became curious about which exact locations in Switzerland appeared as the background in The Sound of Music, the movie that made me think Switzerland was a beautiful and desirable place to visit, so I looked it up. I found that the film was set against the Alps and the village of Iseltwald. While researching, I also discovered something even more interesting: the famous Korean drama Crash Landing on You was also filmed in Iseltwald. I have not watched this drama yet, but since it features the scenery of Switzerland, it made me want to watch it someday.
After thinking more deeply about the reason why I had unconsciously wanted to visit Switzerland and researching it further, I feel as if I have come to understand myself a little better.
내가 가고 싶은 나라는 스위스였다. 그 이유는 단지 풍경이 아름답다고 느꼈기 때문이었다. 그러나 오늘 발표와 수업을 통해 내가 왜 스위스를 가고 싶어하는지에 대해 더 깊이 생각해보고 싶은 마음이 생겼다. 내가 어떤 계기로 스위스의 풍경이 예쁘다고 인식하게 되었는지 떠올려 보니 가장 먼저 영화 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’이 생각났다.
나는 어렸을 때부터 학교와 집에서 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’이라는 영화를 자주 보았다. 어렸을 때라 영화의 줄거리를 정확히 이해하지 못해 내용은 잘 기억나지 않지만, 제일 좋아했던 잔디밭에서 사람들이 함께 노래를 부르던 동화 같은 장면은 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’이라는 제목을 생각했을 때 바로 떠오를 정도로 아직까지도 생생히 기억이 난다. 그 장면은 항상 아름답고 낭만있게 느껴졌고 나에게 강한 인상을 남겼다. 아마도 그 장면을 통해 나는 스위스를 풍경이 아름답고 낭만적인 장소라고 자연스럽게 생각하게 되었던 것 같다. 그리고 이러한 이미지가 무의식 속에서 지금까지도 스위스를 ‘죽기 전에 꼭 가보고 싶은 나라’로 떠올리게 만든 것 같다.
이처럼 내가 왜 스위스의 풍경에 관심을 갖게 되었고 스위스를 가고 싶어하게 되었는지 되짚어 보니, 어쩌면 기억 속에서 미화된 영화 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’의 영향이 컸다는 생각이 들었다. 그래서 내가 스위스가 풍경이 예쁘고 가고 싶은 나라라고 생각하게 해준 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’ 이라는 영화 속에서 정확히 스위스의 어떤 지역이 배경으로 등장했는지 궁금해 찾아보았다. 찾아보니 ‘사운드 오브 뮤직’은 알프스 산맥과 이젤발트 지역을 배경으로 촬영되었다고 한다. 조사를 하다가 더 흥미로웠던 점은 우리나라의 유명한 드라마 ‘사랑의 불시착’ 역시 이젤발트에서 촬영되었다는 것이었다. 이 드라마는 아직 보지 않았지만, 스위스의 풍경이 등장한다고 하니 한 번 보고 싶다는 생각이 들었다.
내가 평소에 무의식적으로 가고 싶다고 생각한 이유를 조금 더 깊게 고민해보고 찾아보니 나에 대해 더 잘 알게 된 기분이다.
