Connectography Speech for World Environment Day 2025 | Lee Hyunju (Gambia) | 008
The Gambia's land has a long and narrow structure along the Gambia River. The north, east, and south are all the land of Senegal, and I think it's amazing that the land was formed by occupying the river in between. While researching the Gambia, I learned that mangrove forests and wetlands are developed in the lower part of the Gambia, and what living things live there? And Arch 22 is said to have been carved into the capital city of Bandl to commemorate the military coup in the Gambia, so does this structure have great historical significance for the Gambia? When I went sightseeing in Gambia from another country, I wonder if Arch 22 is one of the representative tourist attractions. And can you send me a picture of the Gambia River? As it is a topography that has a great influence on the lives of Gambia people, I would like to learn more about the Gambia River.
It's getting warmer in Korea now. It's been warm this week, but I think it's getting a little chilly as it starts to rain tomorrow. I'm in an area called Yeongjongdo Island, which is affected by the sea a lot, and it's usually chilly even in the month when other parts of Korea get warm. Nowadays, it snows a lot in March as the climate changes. Is there any climate change or environmental problems in the Gambia? I've researched that Gambia enacted the National Environmental Management Act NEMA in 1994 to establish the National Environment Agency NEA and respond to various environmental issues such as pollution control, waste management, and biodiversity conservation. Can you tell me specifically what the activities this organization has conducted? In Gambia, should the National Environment Agency conduct a campaign or something like that so that the people can respond appropriately to environmental problems? I wonder if the Gambia's people are seriously aware of environmental problems, or if it doesn't have much impact on their lives at the moment. Korea has a temperate climate, so there are four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. These days, spring and fall are getting shorter due to climate change. However, climate change doesn't seem to be serious in normal life.
