Connectography Speech for World Environment Day 2025 | Choi Seo Eun (Ghana) | 141
1.Coastal Plain, Gold Coast
The southern part of Ghana consists of a lowland plain along a long, flat coastline. Because the coast is distributed with lagoons, swamps, and sandy beaches, it is well intertwined with the wet tropical climate.
The capital, Accra, is also located on the coast. Ghana's coastline borders the Atlantic Ocean, which is 539 km long. Called the Gold Coast, Ghana's coastline was the first European to set foot on the northern coast of the Gulf of Guinea in 1471, when Portuguese missionaries discovered the many golds along the coastline, and it began to be called the Gold Coast, which means the "golden coast" in Europe.
2. the Asanti Plateau
Southwestern and south-central Ghana consist of forested plateau areas consisting of the Ashanti and Kwahoo highlands. It is specifically known as the Asanti region, an area rich in mineral resources such as gold.
3. Volta Basin
The Volta Basin is a large basin that spans from central to eastern Ghana. It has Lake Volta, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. The Akosovo Dam was built on the Volta River, and Lake Volta was created on the Volta Plateau. Rice and sugarcane are also cultivated as an irrigation channel using artificial lakes formed by dams on the Volta River starting in northern Ghana. The northern part of the Volta Plateau, located in the southeastern part of the country, is a savannah region, and the northern and western parts are savannah plains.
Hello! My name is seoeun-Choi and I live in Korea. Frome now on, I will explain about the weather in Korea these days. If you're in Korea this April or planning a trip soon, you're arriving at one of the most beautiful times of the year. Spring is in full swing, and the weather is just perfect for exploring cities, enjoying nature, and soaking in Korean culture.
Throughout April, the weather in Korea is generally mild and comfortable. Daytime temperatures range from 17°C to 25°C, while mornings and evenings can be a bit cooler, around 5°C to 12°C. A light jacket or sweater is recommended, especially after sunset. However, it is important to be careful because the weather is especially dry in spring and there are many wildfires.
Nowadays, due to global warming, many natural disasters such as forest fires and floods are occurring all over the world. In this situation, many international organizations and environmental groups are constantly presenting many solutions to prevent this, but the effect is insignificant. In response, I thought, 'Because of our lack of interest.' No matter how many international organizations or environmental groups insist on preventing global warming, we still mistake it for a long time and pass it on to others. Therefore, our participation and interest are essential to solve climate change and environmental problems, and practical efforts must be made, for example, recycling, using tumblers, and removing electrical cords. In addition, I hope that we will inform as many ages and people as possible of the seriousness and become one that responds to climate change and environmental problems as soon as possible.
Ghana, a country located in West Africa, is increasingly interested in environmental issues. In particular, issues such as climate change, forest destruction, water pollution, and waste management are considered major environmental challenges. Ghana has made sustainable development a core goal of its environmental policy based on its national environmental policy, which was revised in 2014. The contents of this policy typically include areas such as climate change response, biodiversity conservation, forest and water resource management, environmental education and awareness raising, and sustainable agriculture and industrialization. In addition, Ghana has established national policies on climate change to promote greenhouse gas reduction and climate adaptation strategies. The main contents are the expansion of renewable energy, the introduction of climate-friendly agricultural technologies, and the strengthening of its ability to respond to climate disasters such as floods and droughts. Two questions have arisen about Ghana's system. The first question is, although Ghana's national environmental policy aims at sustainable development, what practical changes have it actually made to the lives of community residents. The second question is that Ghana's climate change policy covers various fields such as agriculture, energy, and disaster response, but are the communities most vulnerable to climate change actually benefiting from it? I thought I would like to ask these questions to my friends in Ghanaian countries and solve them.
