Hi everyone!
I’m Jeongmin, and today I want to introduce you to my hometown, Daegu, a vibrant city in South Korea that’s full of character and charm.
Daegu is known as the “City of Textiles” because of its rich history in the fashion and textile industry, but there’s so much more to discover here. From beautiful natural landscapes to lively urban attractions, Daegu has a little bit of everything.
One of my favorite spots is Palgongsan Mountain. It’s a popular hiking destination, especially in autumn when the leaves turn fiery shades of red and orange. Even if you’re not into hiking, the peaceful Donghwasa Temple at the base of the mountain is worth a visit. It’s home to a massive Buddha statue that’s absolutely stunning.
For a taste of Daegu’s city life, head to Dongseongro, the downtown area. It’s the perfect place to hang out with friends, shop, or try some of the city’s amazing food. Speaking of food, you have to try Daegu’s spicy tteokbokki and makchang (grilled beef or pork intestines)—both are local specialties that people here are super proud of.
If you’re into history, you’ll love places like the Daegu Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Market, which has been around for over 350 years. Walking through the market feels like stepping back in time, and you can even learn about traditional Korean medicine while you’re there.
What I love most about Daegu is its energy. It’s a city that embraces its traditions while always finding new ways to grow and thrive. It’s not just my hometown—it’s a place that inspires me every day. If you ever get the chance to visit, I know you’ll fall in love with it too!
