The problem of Air pollution caused by tricycles
H (Home) - The biggest environmental problem in Tuguegarao, where I live right now, has to be the severe air pollution. You can't go anywhere without seeing a massive number of tricycles operating daily.
O (Overview) - The real issue is that most of these traditional tricycles are running on old, messy engines that are barely maintained. Since they are the main way to get around the city, thousands of them are constantly throwing out heavy black smoke. It just leaves toxic pollutants trapped in the air, which makes it really hard to breathe and seriously hurts our community's health.
P (Plan) - To solve this, I believe we need to focus on two things. One is getting the local government to financially help drivers switch over to cleaner 'E-tricycles' or better modern engines. It might seem expensive at first, but it’s going to save a lot of money on healthcare and environmental cleanups later on. The other thing is enforcing strict emission tests and creating tricycle-free zones in the busiest areas.
E (Execute) - We can do our part by pushing for eco-friendly rides and backing local laws that stop vehicles from smoking up the streets. As individuals, we can easily choose to walk or bike for short distances and pick E-trikes whenever we can. It’s time for us as commuters to start demanding cleaner options. If the government and citizens actually work together, these small, daily choices will add up and finally give us back clean air
