H (Home) - One environmental problem that is happening in California, which was the state I lived in the United States, is the wildfires that happen frequently.
O (Overview) - This problem is happening due to climate change. The increase in global temperature caused decades of prolonged dry and hot periods which have caused wildfires to happen more often and with higher intensity.
P (Plan) - I believe there are two important aspects to solve this problem. One solution would be to fund and invest more into the wildfire prevention system. When a wildfire happens, it costs billions of dollars to respond to it. So I believe investing in the prevention of wildfire itself would also save a lot of money. The other solution would be to slow down the speed of the global temperature increase.
E (Execute) - We can contribute and execute this solution by promoting the investment to wildfire prevention instead of thinking that it is not their job. To help with the environmental crisis, individuals can follow the 3 R principle which is to reduce, reuse, and recycle. I think it is important to always think of alternatives that can save energy and resources. The most important part of the execution is that everyone participates in ways that may seem trivial. These small actions will add up to have a big impact.
