Here is my SoH idea for World Environment Day 2026.
Home - I spent my middle school and high school years in Daejeon, so the Gapcheon and Yudeungcheon rivers are very familiar places to me. Many citizens visit these rivers to walk, exercise, and spend time with their families and friends. However, I often noticed trash such as plastic bottles, cans, and cigarette butts left around the riverside.
Overview - This litter does not only make the rivers look dirty, but it can also lead to water pollution and damage the local ecosystem. In addition, waste and excessive use of disposable products indirectly increase carbon emissions, which negatively affects the environment.
Plan - To help solve this problem, I would like to organize a ‘Plogging Campaign’ around Gapcheon and Yudeungcheon for World Environment Day 2026. Plogging is an activity where people pick up trash while jogging or walking. Through this campaign, I hope more people can take interest in protecting their local environment in a simple but meaningful way.
Execute - To carry out this campaign, I plan to encourage students and local citizens to participate together. Participants will also be encouraged to use bicycles or public transportation instead of cars when joining the event. Through these small actions, we can reduce carbon emissions, prevent water pollution, and create a cleaner community for future generations.
