Pyeongtaek, surrounded by expansive fields, has long been blessed with abundant agricultural products, leading to the development of Nongak. Nongak is a comprehensive art form that combines dance and music, originally performed by farmers playing instruments to pray for community harmony, a bountiful harvest, and the well-being of its residents.
Nongak embodies both exceptional artistry and Korean traditional beauty, earning it a place on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
In addition to Pyeongtaek Nongak, performances of intangible cultural heritage are held throughout the country, offering a uniquely Korean experience. Furthermore, citizens can enjoy a variety of programs, including Hanji crafts and traditional instrument experience programs.
While traveling in Switzerland, I witnessed a traditional dance performed by Ländler in a village. If you have the opportunity, I hope you will visit Pyeongtaek and experience this intangible cultural heritage of Korea.

평택은 넓은 들을 끼고 있어 예로부터 농산물이 풍부해 농악이 크게 발달하였습니다. 농악이란 옛날에 농민들이 악기를 연주하면서 마을 공동체의 화합과 풍년, 마을 주민의 안녕을 기원하기 위해 춤이나 연주가 합쳐진 종합 예술입니다.
농악은 유네스코 인류무형문화유산으로 등재될 만큼 뛰어난 예술성과 한국의 전통미를 지니고 있습니다.
평택농악뿐만 아니라 전국 각지의 무형문화재 공연이 진행되어 한국만의 멋과 흥을 느낄 수 있습니다. 이외에도 한지공예, 전통악기 체험 등 시민을 위한 풍성한 프로그램을 즐길 수 있습니다.
