Hi! My name is Samuel Kye, and I am based in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, a quiet city located near Seoul. My hometown is Los Angeles, California.
My Korean name is Yoonjin (윤진).
I major in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, with a particular focus on the structural dimensions of conflict and the roles that religion, diplomacy, and culture play in shaping both division and reconciliation. I am especially interested in how historical memory, identity, and belief systems influence the ways societies experience and resolve conflicts.
My hobbies include reading and listening to music—my favorite musician is Joji—and I have a broad interest in subculture, including games, internet culture, and contemporary media. My favorite game is Limbus Company, which I enjoy not only for its gameplay but also for its unique storytelling and artistic style.
I am fluent in Korean, English, and Japanese, and I enjoy exploring different cultures through language, literature, and conversation.
One of the most meaningful moments in my life was spending a fall semester as an exchange student in Akita, Japan. Living there allowed me to experience a different rhythm of life and engage more deeply with Japanese culture and community. That experience significantly shaped my intellectual interests and worldview.
Always peace in my town Gwangju
The city where I currently live, Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province, reminds me in many ways of Akita. It is a peaceful town surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a calm and quiet atmosphere. Although I currently work in the busy center of Seoul, I often find myself missing the tranquil and reflective environment of Gwangju, which offers a welcome contrast to the fast-paced life of the city.

Me during the School Festival season, as a member of Kanto Festival Club!
And famous lake- Tazawako!
My primary academic interests lie in religion, diplomacy, and the arts.
Among writers, I love Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. In the arts, I love Austrian painter Egon Schiele and Russian painter Nicolai Ge.
Thank you, and welcome to GGS!
