Scouts from Swetzerland explored Korea beyond Jeonbuk Camping Site.
The Swiss scouts who visited Sungshin Women’s University had arrived at the Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance Training Center in Gangbuk-gu on August 8. This cultural experience program was organized in cooperation with the Gangbuk District Office.
Due to Typhoon Khanun (Typhoon No. 6), all Jamboree-related activities were moved indoors. The Swiss scouts enjoyed a 90-minute cultural experience in a pleasant and safe environment at the Mia Woonjeong Green Campus, which has been developed as a cultural space in itself. They toured exhibitions featuring traditional Korean attire — including garments for birth, daily life, weddings, royal ceremonies, and funerals — and appreciated various artworks displayed throughout the campus.
Nawel (15), one of the Swiss Jamboree participants, said, “It’s amazing that we can appreciate artworks throughout the entire university campus. I was especially impressed by the rare opportunity to see traditional Korean costumes representing every stage of life, from birth to death, all in one place.”
Another participant, Joshua (17), added, “It was refreshing to experience an exhibition style we could never encounter in Switzerland. I found the traditional Korean clothing very attractive, with its delicate and refined designs, and every piece on display was unique.”
