Mikkel Hoeck is a scout from Denmark. He came to Korea to attend the 2023 World Scout Jamboree.
On August 9, 2023, Scout members from Denmark who participated in the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Saemangeum visited the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul, where they explored Korea’s long and rich history through ancient artifacts and cultural exhibits. The visit provided them with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Korean heritage following their active participation in the Jamboree.
During the 2023 World Scout Jamboree, the Danish Scouts distinguished themselves through their enthusiasm, creativity, and spirit of cooperation. Despite the challenging weather conditions, they took part in cultural exchange programs, environmental education activities, and global friendship events, where they introduced aspects of Danish culture such as traditional songs, sustainable living practices, and eco-friendly camping methods. Their cheerful energy and teamwork were well recognized by fellow Scouts and organizers alike.
Former participants of the 2023 World Scout Jamboree have been invited back to Korea to take part in a special rural experience program. From November 11 to 15, they will stay at a rural experience village and join a variety of cultural and hands-on activities.
This event will host about 10 Scouts from the Faroe Islands, Denmark, who will visit Imsil Cheese Village, known as the birthplace of Korean cheese, for a four-night, five-day stay to experience Korean culture and rural life firsthand.
During their visit, the Scouts will participate in activities such as cheese and pizza making, traditional Korean games like yutnori, and even riding farm tractors, offering them a unique opportunity to learn about local traditions and enjoy the warmth of Korean rural hospitality.
