GG Ambassador Elleen Chebet, visited Kenya Embassy in Seoul.
As part of my journey with the Great Geographic Society (GGS) program , I had the unique opportunity to visit the Kenyan Embassy. This experience was not only official but also deeply personal—it reminded me of the importance of representing our country wherever we go.
Walking into the embassy, I felt an instant sense of home. Though I was in a foreign land, the embassy carried the warmth and spirit of Kenya. Meeting the officials was both inspiring and encouraging, as they welcomed us with genuine hospitality and took time to engage with us about our mission and experiences in the GG’s program.
The visit gave me the chance to share more about the purpose of our program: exploring geography, culture, and public diplomacy through learning and exchange. It was also an opportunity to reflect on the role of young Kenyans abroad—how we can serve as cultural ambassadors, bridge communities, and strengthen international understanding.
Beyond the formalities, what touched me most was the realization that the embassy truly acts as a home away from home. It safeguards our identity, supports Kenyans in need, and stands as a symbol of national unity even thousands of miles away.
This visit will always remain a highlight of my GGS journey. It reminded me that no matter where we go, we carry our Kenyan heritage proudly, and through programs like this, we contribute to building bridges across nations.
