My name is Aupal Emmanuel and let me introduce to you my Ordinary Level (O'level) School, Jinja College. It is an only boys' school that was founded in 1946 by the Mill Hill Missionary Fathers. Jinja College began as a junior school until 1981 when it was elevated to Advanced level status (S.1-S.6). Secondary school is the next stage of school after kindergarten and primary school in Uganda. This stage is popularly known as High School.
Jinja College is a catholic-founded, government-aided boys’ boarding school, offering both O and A-level programs with a strong emphasis on Christian values. It offers a comprehensive curriculum of 16 subjects including core courses like Geography, History, Mathematics, English, Sciences, etc. The campus includes classrooms, well-equipped science labs, a computer lab, a library, sports fields, and boarding houses. Academic and cultural talents shine as well—with students ranking highly in essay writing, drawings, and co-curricular competitions such as sports. The school maintains rigorous academic monitoring, strong counseling, and infrastructure improvements to ensure that students progress effectively through each level, and ranks among the best each year in Uganda.
The school is located on top of Rubaga Hill, about 1–2 km north of Jinja city center, giving it a serene, elevated position above the bustling town. From this vantage point, students can enjoy panoramic views of Jinja City, Lake Victoria, River Nile (the longest river in the world) in the distance.
