The following are the complementary points. First, the country was selected as Korea's neighboring countries and countries by continent. Second, we subdivided the map topic by changing it to carbon footprints, not energy. Third, we changed the question for obtaining carbon footprints to something more familiar to students. Fourth, we changed it to a more understandable and catchy site(https://www.netzerobusan.re.kr/www/pgm0020). Additionally, since the content has changed to researching and mapping carbon footprints on the subject, I thought about what carbon footprints are, not explaining the Earth usage. Finally, there were two things of feedback on the correction. First, it would be good to look for other sites that can be used by people around the world, in addition to sites in Korean for Korean students. Second, it is accurate to use the carbon footprint world map without area distortion.
After the class demonstration with the following contents, we developed educational materials through the process of receiving feedback from other motives and professors. We maintained the jigsaw model, guidance on how to use AI, visible results, and diversity of activities that were mentioned as good. On the contrary, we took a direction to compensate for the selection of a country that was disappointing, the difficulty of using the site, the lack of relevance between learners and questions.
Reflecting the various characteristics of the geography textbook, my college classmates and I, who want to become teachers, planned and practiced geography classes that could be different from the past. First, I set the topic of the environment, looked for exemplary class examples, and transformed it a little. First, we know what Earth usage is; take charge of one country for each group and use the site(https://www.footprintcalculator.org/home/en) to find the Earth usage of each country. And it ends with the presentation of what we felt after creating an "energy world map" by selecting a color for each level of Earth usage obtained.
It seems that geography textbooks in Korea are often limited to textbook types. There are maps, photos, and picture materials, but more refined texts dominate. In order to improve this, it is important to know that there are various types of geography textbooks, such as dolls, posters, and tastes of celebrities, and to use appropriate and accurate maps.
On May 2, 2025, I emailed to embassies in several countries to invite Asian countries to a public diplomacy festival hosted by Gyeongin National University of Education (GINUE) and Geographical Imaginations Research Institute (GIRI). Among the countries I decided to send, I emailed to East Timor, the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan, where the ambassador's exact e-mail address was confirmed. There has been no reply except for confirmation of reception yet, but it feels good that I have taken the first step in communication with many countries around the world.
The 12th century in Korea was during the Goryeo Dynasty. It is also said that the name of the country is now called Korea because the name of the country was known as Goryeo's trade during this period. The pronunciation is similar between Goryeo and Korea, right? The national religion of Goryeo was Buddhism, so the representative structure at that time was many temples. Geungnakjeon Hall of Bongjeongsa Temple, Andong is Korea's oldest wooden building. It is also modeled after the architectural style of the Unified Silla Period, a country that existed on Korean soil before Goryeo.
I know that Angkor Wat in Cambodia was built in the 12th century. It is valuable enough to be called a Wonder of the World, and it is also world-famous. It is a place that I really want to go someday. Here, I was curious about what kind of architecture it would have built in Korea around the same time, so I researched it. I would like to briefly share the results.
First, I would like to introduce Goyang where I live. It is located in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, and is close to Seoul, which you know a lot. There are Ilsan Lake Park where you can take a leisurely walk, Hanwha Aqua Planet Ilsan where you can look into the sea, and One Mount where you can enjoy exciting water play. And you can enjoy a lot of experiences by visiting Hyundai Motor Studio Goyang and Haengju Fortress, a part of Korean history. There are also KINTEX and Goyang Stadium where many exhibitions and performances are held. Recently, GD and COLDPLAY performed, and BLACKPINK will also perform a few months later(And I am also very interested in K-pop and singers.). I was able to see COLDPLAY's concert fireworks display, albeit briefly.
There is also a link to an electronic map that shows major tourist attractions in Goyang, so take a look! You can set up Korean, English, and Chinese. (https://goyang.dadora.kr/) If you have any questions about Goyang or Korea, feel free to comment!
Hello, my name is Sienna. I currently live in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, and I attend a university of education. So, I dream of becoming an elementary school teacher in Gyeonggi-do. And I like nature, especially the beach where the sea, the forest, and the sky harmonize together.
My mother once traveled to Cambodia in her twenties. In my opinion, the most memorable thing my mother has ever seen in Cambodia is Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat in Cambodia often appears on Korean TV channels, because whenever she sees that scene, she says she has been there. Traveling to Cambodia was a very fun and meaningful experience for her.
After hearing my mother's story, I became interested in Cambodia in Southeast Asia. In the future, I want to get to know more about Cambodia in diverse fields.
