On May 13th, Seoul Central Library hosted a thought-provoking reading and discussion event titled “Reflecting on the Meaning of Books”, jointly organized with the YouTube channel BODA. The event invited participants to revisit the value of books as a medium in today’s world.
The panel featured scholars with rare academic specializations, offering a rich tapestry of insights. Among the speakers were Professor Jinbin Park (American History) from our university, Director Inwook Kang (History) of Seoul Central Library, Egyptologist Minsu Kwak, and Professor Hyundo Park from Sogang University’s EuroMENA Research Center. Forty students were randomly selected to attend the event in person.
The event unfolded in three sessions:
-
Part 1 delved into the history of books and explored the factuality of the Bible.
-
Part 2 examined the rise of American hegemony from a historical perspective.
-
Part 3, featuring Professor Ijae Kim (Geography) from Gyeongin National University of Education, addressed the concept of global danger zones.
