It was shocking to learn that volcanic islands created by volcanoes in the sea erupted and formed islands, and that while coral reefs were growing around the island, the volcanic islands sank or eroded, leaving only coral reefs in the form of rings. It is also fascinating that coral reefs can grow on such a large scale. Then the Maldives is not an island composed of rocks, but an island that originated from living things, and I think it's really cool that the Maldives is recognized as an island country and that people live there.
I have some questions about lagoon, the most interesting terrain in the Maldives. Do locals also enjoy swimming or snorkeling in lagoon? I'm really curious about the impact that the unique terrain of lagoon has on the lives of the residents. I've also been told that there are several islands within lagoon, and that one island is only a 10-30-minute walk. I'm curious if the locals often take the boat to move between the islands. Also, how do the infrastructure like hospitals, schools, and grocery stores exist? I don't think there's much need for private cars in the Maldives, so do locals own their own boats? I'd really appreciate it if the locals could actually send me a picture of them traveling between the islands on a boat like a bus.
Korea has a temperate climate, and there are four seasons, so April is spring now. Korea's spring is characterized by mild weather between the end of winter and the beginning of summer. As the frozen ground melts, sprouts grow and spring flowers such as cherry blossoms bloom one after another. Especially now, spring flowers peak in April, showing off really pretty scenery. As shown in the attached picture, there is also a cherry blossom festival in Yeouido. However, the spring in Korea is very dry, so wildfires often occur. Even now, wildfires have occurred all over the country, causing very serious damage. Also, yellow dust from China and Mongolia often makes it necessary to wear a mask. Still, I like warm spring weather and the scenery of spring when life begins. Recently, however, I also feel that spring is gradually decreasing. Due to global warming, the phenomenon of shorter spring and fall and longer summer and winter is getting worse. Therefore, the boundary between spring and summer becomes blurred, and the blooming time of spring flowers is accelerated. It was definitely chilly until yesterday, but things like suddenly getting hot from today often happen. Whenever this happens, you realize that the Earth's climate system is collapsing. Climate change is not just a problem in Korea, but a global problem, so it is also a problem that people around the world must be alert and actively solve. I understand that even in the Maldives, which is about 1.5 meters above sea level on average, climate change causes damage related to rising sea levels. In particular, it was impressive that Mohammed Nasheed held a meeting on the seafloor in Malé in 2009 to publicize the seriousness. The Maldives is actively considering overseas migration rather than environmental policies in preparation for submerging, and I understand that it is even pushing for a policy to provide income from resort development and tourism as national migration expenses. I wonder what the locals think about this response and if there is any strong backlash. Can you tell me about the local people's experiences such as whether the Maldives actually experience the erosion of the coastline or have to relocate elsewhere? Thank you for reading this long article!
