It seems that geography textbooks in Korea are often limited to textbook types. There are maps, photos, and picture materials, but more refined texts dominate. In order to improve this, it is important to know that there are various types of geography textbooks, such as dolls, posters, and tastes of celebrities, and to use appropriate and accurate maps.
On May 2, 2025, I emailed to embassies in several countries to invite Asian countries to a public diplomacy festival hosted by Gyeongin National University of Education (GINUE) and Geographical Imaginations Research Institute (GIRI). Among the countries I decided to send, I emailed to East Timor, the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan, where the ambassador's exact e-mail address was confirmed. There has been no reply except for confirmation of reception yet, but it feels good that I have taken the first step in communication with many countries around the world.
Malaysia has something in common with Korean food culture in that rice is a staple food. Just as there are many different rice dishes in Malaysia, such as Nasi Goreng, there are many different kinds of rice dishes in Korea. Like Bibimbap, which is mixed with various ingredients, and Kimbap, which is wrapped with rice and ingredients with seaweed. And there is also a way to make rice with other ingredients, such as gondre. Also, there are white rice, rice balls, and rice burgers. If you have any questions about Korean food culture, please leave a comment!
In Malaysia, we ate a variety of food, and my friends and I all enjoyed it. We usually ate at restaurants and cafés, and we ate a lot of mangoes for dessert. I'm very happy because I was able to experience Malaysia where they eat rice as a staple food, utilize abundant spices, and have a thriving tropical fruit environment. Aside from that, the cake is in the picture because I celebrated my birthday in Malaysia!
The country I traveled to last year was Malaysia. I went to Kota Kinabalu, and I was amazed by the nice weather and beautiful things to see. It was a wonderful trip with delicious food and friendly people. I think I was able to refresh away from my daily life.
First, I would like to introduce Goyang where I live. It is located in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, and is close to Seoul, which you know a lot. There are Ilsan Lake Park where you can take a leisurely walk, Hanwha Aqua Planet Ilsan where you can look into the sea, and One Mount where you can enjoy exciting water play. And you can enjoy a lot of experiences by visiting Hyundai Motor Studio Goyang and Haengju Fortress, a part of Korean history. There are also KINTEX and Goyang Stadium where many exhibitions and performances are held. Recently, GD and COLDPLAY performed, and BLACKPINK will also perform a few months later(And I am also very interested in K-pop and singers.). I was able to see COLDPLAY's concert fireworks display, albeit briefly.
There is also a link to an electronic map that shows major tourist attractions in Goyang, so take a look! You can set up Korean, English, and Chinese. (https://goyang.dadora.kr/) If you have any questions about Goyang or Korea, feel free to comment!
Hello, my name is Sienna. I currently live in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, and I attend a university of education. So, I dream of becoming an elementary school teacher in Gyeonggi-do. And I like nature, especially the beach where the sea, the forest, and the sky harmonize together.
I went on a trip to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia in April last year. The wonderful sunset and the harmony of the sea and the forest that I saw there have left me with a lasting impression. Since then, I have liked the place called the beach more mixed with the surrounding nature. Furthermore, in it, I could feel even more happiness. The warm wind that blew when I looked at the beach still seems to be alive.
Through this experience, I became interested in Malaysia in Southeast Asia. In the future, I want to get to know more about Malaysia in diverse fields. Through this, I want to have time to learn not only the natural environment but also the culture of Malaysia.
