Kosovo is a small country in southeastern Europe. Its capital city is Pristina. Most people in Kosovo are Albanian, and the main languages are Albanian and Serbian.
Kosovo was part of Serbia in the past. However, there were serious conflicts between Kosovo Albanians and the Serbian government. The Kosovo War happened from 1998 to 1999. After the war, Kosovo was controlled by the United Nations for several years.
In 2008, Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. Many countries, including South Korea and the United States, recognize Kosovo as an independent country. However, Serbia and some other countries do not recognize its independence. Because of this, Kosovo is still not a member of the United Nations.
Kosovo is also not a member of the European Union, but it uses the euro as its currency. Today, the relationship between Kosovo and Serbia is still an important issue in Europe.
