Hello, I am Daniela Lee from Mexico.
If you want to know more about me, please refer to my introduction on this Handong Platform.
H (Home)- Water Shortage: Presa Madín (an artificial lake and dam), located on the border of Naucalpan and Atizapán de Zaragoza with Estado de México, is currently at the center of environmental pollution.
Street Trash: I see a lot of trash while walking down the street. However, I have never once found a trash can on the street to dispose of that trash.
O (Overview)- Water Shortage: Presa Madín was constructed in the 1970s to prevent flooding in the surrounding area and to supply drinking water to nearby residents. However, due to surrounding development, wastewater and garbage have flowed in, severely polluting the dam. Consequently, water purification is difficult, and the water treatment plant is unable to function properly due to system failures, such as frequent power outages. The water supply to individual households remains consistently insufficient. As a result, my household also experiences frequent water shortages.
Street Trash: Recently, with the arrival of the rainy season, flooding has occurred. On the night of Monday, May 11, the city was briefly submerged as Río Hondo overflowed due to torrential rain pouring down in less than an hour and drains clogged with trash.
P (Plan)- Measures include installing street trash cans, investigating and closing illegal sewer pipes polluting Presa Madin, controlling landfills, and continuously removing weeds.
E (Execute)- First off, I will not litter on the streets. And if I see trash, I will pick it up and throw it in a designated trash can. Also, I intend to try to use as little water as possible at home. I plan to make efforts such as shortening my shower time, using as few dishes as possible to reduce the amount of dishwashing, and collecting water for trees and plants when it rains.
