Here is my SoH idea for improving public safety and transportation in Kyrgyzstan.
Home - I was born in Suwon, South Korea, but moved to Kyrgyzstan when I was two years old and lived there for ten years. During that time, I experienced the transportation environment in Bishkek closely. Although many people use roads and public transportation every day, traffic systems are not always well organized, and some roads still do not have proper traffic lights or pedestrian crossings.
Overview - One of the major problems in Kyrgyzstan is the lack of traffic safety awareness and infrastructure. In some areas, traffic signals are insufficient, and jaywalking is often considered normal behavior. Because of these issues, traffic accidents occur every year, putting both drivers and pedestrians in danger. In particular, children and elderly people are more vulnerable in unsafe traffic environments.
Plan - To help solve this problem, I believe Kyrgyzstan needs stronger transportation policies and better traffic safety education. The government should install more traffic lights and crosswalks in busy areas and improve road systems to create a safer transportation environment. In addition, schools and local communities should provide regular education about traffic rules and pedestrian safety.
Execute - To carry out this idea, campaigns promoting safe crossing habits and respect for traffic laws could be organized in schools and public places. Local governments could also strengthen enforcement against traffic violations and encourage citizens to follow traffic regulations more responsibly. Through these efforts, Kyrgyzstan can reduce traffic accidents, improve public safety, and build a more organized and secure transportation culture for future generations.
