GINUE Friend: Yubin Lee from Daegu to Austraila

My name is Yubin Lee. The Korean name Yubin combines “Yu (有),” meaning “to have” or “to exist,” and “Bin (彬),” meaning “to shine” or “to be graceful.” My parents chose this name in the hope that I would always shine with integrity, develop a virtuous character, and bring warmth and light to the people around me.

I was born and raised in Daegu. Influenced by my parents’ love for nature, I grew up surrounded by mountains and parks near my home, and on weekends, my family often went camping in the mountains or spent time along the coast. These childhood experiences have remained an important part of my life, and even now, I feel a sense of calm and freedom whenever I encounter wide, open landscapes.

 안녕하세요. 저의 이름은 이유빈입니다. 저의 이름은 ‘있을 유(有)’와 ‘빛날 빈(彬)’을 합쳐 부모님께서 지어주신 이름으로, 언제나 스스로 빛나며 바른 품성을 가진 사람이 되기를 바라는 뜻과, 제 삶이 다른 사람들에게도 따뜻한 빛이 되기를 바라는 부모님의 마음이 담겨 있습니다. 영어 이름으로는 Yubin Lee를 사용하고 있습니다.

저는 대구에서 나고 자랐습니다. 자연을 사랑하시는 부모님의 영향으로 집 주변에는 늘 산과 공원이 있었고, 주말이면 가족과 함께 산이나 바다로 캠핑을 다니곤 했습니다. 어린 시절의 이러한 경험은 지금까지도 제 삶의 중요한 부분으로 남아 있습니다. 그래서인지 탁 트인 풍경을 마주할 때마다 마음이 편안해지고 자유로움을 느낍니다.

이렇듯 어릴적부터 자연 속에서 다양한 풍경을 경험하며 호기심을 키운 덕분에, 사회과에서 세계지리와 역사, 문화를 배우는 것도 매우 흥미롭게 느꼈습니다. 이번 강의에서는 사회과 지식을 수업에 효과적으로 적용하는 방법과, 학생들이 지리적 사고와 역사에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 사회 현상을 폭넓게 이해하도록 지도하는 능력을 발전시키고 싶습니다.

저의 고향인 대구에서 정말 좋아하는 곳은 바로 범어동의 브런치 맛집, 라파테인데요.

One of my favorite places in my hometown, Daegu, is a brunch café in Beomeo-dong called La Pâté.

At La Pâté, you can enjoy a variety of brunch menus such as eggs Benedict, signature salads, and pasta. In particular, the fresh vegetables and creamy dressing of the salad are always satisfying, so whenever I want to spend a leisurely weekend, I often find myself coming back here. The coffee is also rich and flavorful, making it the perfect finishing touch to a complete brunch.

Rather than tourists, it’s mostly the locals who visit on weekends, so here you can naturally experience the laid-back weekend atmosphere of Beomeo-dong. If you want to enjoy an authentic brunch in Daegu, La Pâté is definitely the place to go.
