This photo shows my favorite beach. It is a place I often visited during school vacations with friends I have known since kindergarten, and it holds many special memories for me.
As a GG Club member, I hope to introduce the attractions of Korea and learn about the world through the public diplomacy program.
When many people from different countries think of Boryeong, they often associate it only with the Mud Festival or Daecheon Beach. However, I believe that my hometown holds many hidden treasures beyond those well-known attractions.
First, the village where I live is famous for its stone. Among them, the most well-known is a deep black stone called “Oseok.” It is commonly used to create sculptures and traditional inkstones.
In addition to the Mud Festival, Boryeong hosts various seafood-related festivals, featuring prawns, gizzard shad, and webfoot octopus, as well as a unique event called the “Mystical Sea Road Festival.”
Beyond Daecheon Beach, where the Mud Festival is held, Boryeong is home to many other beautiful beaches, such as Muchangpo Beach, known for its scenic views, and Yongdu Beach, named for its resemblance to a dragon’s head.
I hope that after reading my introduction, people will gain a deeper and broader understanding of Boryeong, rather than seeing it through only a few familiar images.

I am very interested in the country of Iceland. I first learned about Iceland through the film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, directed by Ben Stiller. After watching the movie, it became one of my favorite films, and it also sparked my interest in Iceland and Greenland.
Since then, I have searched for various sources of information and discovered the unique charm of Iceland. In the process, I learned how vulnerable Iceland is to the global climate crisis. Seeing its natural environment gradually deteriorate made me feel deeply saddened.

I would like to introduce a unique festival in Korea. At first, I considered introducing a festival from my hometown, but since it is already well known and widely shared, I decided to introduce a special winter festival instead.
This festival is the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, held in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province. It is considered one of the largest winter festivals in Korea. The main event of the festival is catching sancheoneo (mountain trout) on a completely frozen river. Visitors can challenge themselves by catching fish with their bare hands or by using a fishing rod.
In addition to fishing, the festival offers various snow and ice exhibitions, as well as snow sledding activities for children. If you visit Korea during winter, I hope you can experience the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival and create unforgettable memories with your family or friends.
Since the festival is held for almost a month every year, it is easy for visitors to plan a trip and enjoy the experience.
If a mentor from Iceland reads this introduction, I highly recommend visiting this festival when you come to Korea! It will be a unique experience that you may not be able to have in Iceland. 많은 나라의 사람들이 보령을 생각하면 머드 축제나 대천 해수욕장 밖에 생각을 하지 못해 하지만 난 나의 고향이 숨겨진 많은 보물들을 가지고 있다고 생각해. 우선 내가 살고 있는 마을은 돌로 유명해. 그 중에서도 짙은 검은색을 가진 돌이라고 해서 ‘오석’이라는 이름이 붙은 돌이 가장 유명해. 이를 통해서 여러 조각상이나 벼루와 같은 것을 만드는데 사용을 하기도 해. 머드 축제를 제외하고도 대하, 전어 쭈꾸미 등과 같은 여러 해산물과 관련된 축제나 ‘신비의 바닷길’이라고 하는 특별한 축제도 있어. 머드 축제가 열리는 대천 해수욕장을 제외하고도 경치가 아름다운 무창포 해수욕장, 용 머리와 비슷해서 이름이 붙은 용두 해수욕장 등 여러 해수욕장이 있는 지역이야.
나의 글을 보고 난 후에 보령이라는 지역에 대해서 단편적인 정보들이 아니라 더 많은 것을 알 수 있으면 좋을 것 같아.

나는 ‘아이슬란드’라는 국가에 대해서 매우 관심이 많아. ‘아이슬란드’라는 국가에 대해서 처음 알게 된 이유는 벤 스틸러 감독의 ‘월터의 상상은 현실이 된다,’라는 영화를 통해서 처음 알게 되었어. 이 영화를 보고 나서 나의 인생 영화를 찾았을 뿐만 아니라, 아이슬란드와 그린란드에 대해서 관심을 가지게 되었어. 그 이후 여러 정보들을 찾아보며 아이슬란드라는 나라의 매력에 대해서 알게 되었어. 그러던 중에 현재 지구에서 아이슬란드가 기후 위기에 대해 얼마나 취약한지에 대해서 알게 되었고, 여러 환경이 무너지는 것을 보니 매우 안타까움을 느꼈어. 이런 여러 정보들을 찾아보면서 많은 궁금증이 생겼는데, 혹시 이 글을 읽고 나의 궁금증을 해결해 줄 수 있다면 댓글을 달아줄 수 있어?

한국에 존재하는 색다른 축제에 대해서 소개하고 싶어. 처음에는 나의 고향에 있는 축제를 소개하는 것도 좋지만 잘 알고 있거나 너무나 많은 정보가 있어서 조금은 특별한 겨울 축제를 소개해주고 싶어. ‘강원도 화천’이라는 지역에서 열리는 산천어 축제야. 이 축제는 한국에서 열리는 겨울 축제 중에서도 큰 규모로 꼽히는 축제들 중에서 하나야. 이 축제의 메인 이벤트는 꽁꽁 언 강 위에서 산천어를 잡아보는 경험을 해보는 것이야. 맨손으로도 도전할 수도 있고, 낚싯대를 이용해서도 도전을 해 볼 수 있어. 이 외에도 눈과 얼음을 이용한 전시들이나 아이들을 위한 눈 썰매도 준비가 되어 있어. 만약에 겨울에 한국에 놀러 오게 된다면 화천 산천어 축제를 경험해보며 가족들이나 친구들과 함께 특이한 경험을 하고 갔으면 좋겠어. 이 축제는 거의 한 달 동안 매년 열리기 때문에 쉽게 방문하고 경험해 볼 수 있다고 생각해.
