Volleyball is a sport of two teams of six players each aim to hit the ball over the net and score points by making the ball land on the opponent's court. 

How it's played:

It is played with three touches per team. A player from a team serves the ball to start the game, the receiving team tries to pass the ball to their setter. The setter being the orchestra of the game, sets the ball for the attacker. The attacker tries to hit the ball over the net and score. Players at the net of the opposition team try to block the opponent's attack. Successful blocks points goes to the defending team and unsuccessful blocks points goes to the attacking team. Rules apply to the game for smooth, equal and fair game play.

Every position is as important for the success of a team. As there must be a winner. Five sets, first four played to 25 and last set played to 15.

Positions:

The server is usually a who serves the ball, sometimes there is a designated pinch server making unpredictable services.

The Liberos who are also nicknamed as the Guardian Angels prevents the ball from hitting the ground with precise and calculated moves, giving way to the setter.

The setter being the orchestra of every game. You change the setter, you change the mood of the game. The decide who makes the final hit for the team to make points.

The hitters who with brute force and strong hands hit the ball harder than anyone else, making it difficult for anyone to receive.

The blockers prevent the ball from getting to their side of the court. They are known as the Iron walls as they are usually gifted with height to jump and cover spaces for spikes.

Global popularity:

Volleyball has been an Olympic sport since 1964. The FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) hosts various international tournaments, including the Volleyball World Championship. With the Volleyball Nations League being one of the hosts and the biggest centre for the game. Many countries have professional volleyball leagues, such as the Brazilian Superliga, aJapan, and the Italian Serie A1. Volleyball is a popular recreational activity, played in schools, parks, and beaches worldwide. 

Volleyball isn't a one man team and with an available 6 man, it has created a sense of co-operation, understanding and belonging and this facilitates the smoothness of every played match. This game is as fun as it gets since no particular time is given to limit play. It is an endless game of possibilities with rallies and heart races.

I started playing volleyball as a novice and over time it became love and developed to passion. After years of playing, hours of training and days of self motivation and personal reflection, I became better and now I am a student coach, training others.
