Hello everyone! I’m Hyewon from Republic of Korea. Today, I want to talk about Seychelles.
Seychelles is an island country in the Indian Ocean, east of Africa. It is northeast of Madagascar. Seychelles has about 115 islands. The capital city is Victoria, and the biggest island is Mahé. Seychelles is warm all year round. It is famous for its beautiful sea and nature.
<Culture>
Seychelles has a mix of different cultures. African, European, and Asian cultures have influenced Seychelles. We can see these influences in its language, music, dance, and daily life. Seychelles has three official languages: Seychellois Creole, English, and French. Seychellois Creole is often used in everyday life.
<Food>
Seychelles is famous for seafood. People often eat fish from the sea. Grilled fish and fish curry are popular foods. Coconut milk and different spices are also used a lot. Seychelles food has influences from Africa, France, and India, so it has many different flavors. Ladob, a sweet coconut dessert, is also a famous traditional food.
<Tourism>
Seychelles is a very famous vacation and tourist destination. Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue are especially popular islands. Visitors can swim, go snorkeling, or ride bicycles around the island. Praslin is also home to Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
<Politics and Social Issues>
Seychelles is famous not only for its beautiful nature and tourism, but also for its unique political and social culture. It is known as a relatively stable democratic country in Africa. The president and the National Assembly lead the country. Tourism is very important to the country’s economy. However, Seychelles also faces problems such as climate change, rising sea levels, and protecting the ocean. One important challenge is to protect its beautiful nature while developing tourism.
I hope you can visit Seychelles someday. If you have the chance, I really recommend visiting this beautiful country!
