My name is Sung Gyeol Lee.
My name is given to me by my father and mother, and it means to bear fruit with all your heart and soul by writing Chinese characters with sincerity and determination to bear.
I was born in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, but my father decided to return to farming, so I went down to Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do at the age of 4 and grew up there until I was 20. The place where I grew up is a very small village where the head of the village is located in the unit of 'ri'. It is a friendly place where you can easily see cultivators, paddy fields, and wild animals on your way to and from school, and I have been growing up with nature as a friend since I was young. Every summer vacation, I lie down on the bench in the yard with my parents to look at the stars together, but I can not see shooting stars at night in the countryside without any light. Those summer days, when I felt and heard the sound of grass and frogs crying, and saw shooting stars, seemed to be the happiest moments I remember.

제 이름은 아버지가 지어주신 이름으로 정성 성, 맺을 결의 한자를 써서 정성을 다해 결실을 맺으라는 의미가 담긴 이름입니다. 저는 이루고자 하는 일이 있을 때, 그 이름의 의미처럼 제가 할 수 있는 모든 최선을 다해 결실을 얻으려 노력하며 살아가고 있습니다.
저는 경기도 광명시에서 태어났지만 아버지가 귀농을 결심하셔 4살 때 경상북도 상주로 내려가 스무 살까지 그곳에서 쭉 자라왔습니다. 제가 자라온 곳은 ‘리’ 단위의 이장님이 계신 아주 작은 마을입니다. 등하교길에 쉽게 경운기, 논 밭, 야생 동물 등을 쉽게 볼 수 있는 정겨운 곳으로 어릴 때부터 자연을 벗 삼아 자라왔습니다. 저는 여름 방학 마다 부모님과 함께 마당의 평상에 누워 함께 별을 구경하곤 하는데 빛 한 점 없는 시골의 밤에선 별똥별도 어렵지 않게 볼 수 있습니다. 여름 밤 풀내음과 개구리 우는 소리와 함께 별똥별을 보았던 그 여름 날들은 제가 기억하는 가장 행복한 순간이었던 것 같습니다.
