Hello everyone! I’m Lerato Mashala from South Africa, founder of Gift TSA Lerato, co-founder of Gyaan Tribe Global, and founder of Balimi Youth Development Farm — an initiative that focuses on agriculture and teaches young children where their food comes from, how to plant it, and how to harvest what they grow. Through my work, I’ve guided students and young innovators to explore how geography, culture, and local resources shape opportunities and foster sustainable development.
I’m excited to join this program, not only to learn about Chungnam’s geography, culture, and environment but also to share the wonders of South Africa. From Table Mountain and the Cape Winelands to the vast Kruger National Park and the Drakensberg Mountains, our landscapes and ecosystems are rich and diverse. I look forward to engaging with Korean students, exchanging stories, and exploring the ways our countries and cultures connect.
Hello from the southern tip of Africa! My name is Lerato Mashala and I live in South Africa—a country with two oceans, wild animals like lions and penguins, and landscapes from deserts to mountains.
ReplyDeleteOver the next month, I’ll be sharing daily geography stories from my country, and sometimes comparing them to Chungnam Province in Korea. Let’s explore together!
Question for students:
If you could visit South Africa, what would you want to see first—animals, mountains, or the ocean?

Day 2 – Two Oceans, One Country 🌊
ReplyDelete> Imagine standing on a cliff where two mighty oceans meet!
South Africa is special because it’s where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean—at Cape Point! The water here can be wild, with huge waves and sea birds everywhere.
Chungnam also has a coastline, but it’s on the Yellow Sea. Its beaches are famous for mudflats and shellfish farms.
Question: Which would you prefer—collecting shells on a mudflat or watching big waves crash on the rocks?

Day 3 – Table Mountain vs. Gyeryongsan 🏔️
ReplyDeleteTable Mountain in Cape Town is 1,085 m tall and flat on top—like a giant table! It’s home to plants found nowhere else on Earth.
In Chungnam, Gyeryongsan is 845 m tall and covered in forests that change color beautifully in autumn.
Question: Which mountain would you like to hike first—Table Mountain with an ocean view, or Gyeryongsan with autumn leaves?
