Hello everyone in the world! I am Ryu Da-in, a student at Incheon Sky High School in South Korea. The weather in Korea right now is in the middle of spring. The daytime temperature is around 20 degrees, and the warm weather continues. We can say that we are currently at the intersection of winter and summer. During this time, the length of the day is getting longer and the temperature is gradually rising. Korea is located in the middle latitudes, and is affected by the Siberian air mass and the North Pacific air mass. Thanks to this, Korea is known as a country with four distinct seasons. In particular, the temperature is mild in spring and fall, and the changes in nature are also distinct.
However, in recent years, we often hear the expression that spring and fall are getting shorter and disappearing in Korea. This is because the length of spring and fall is much shorter than in the past, and summer and winter are getting longer. This is mainly due to global warming and climate change, and it can be said that it is a result of human activities that have had a great impact. Since climate change is a problem that goes beyond the national level, global cooperation is needed to solve it.
In response, Korea declared the 2050 carbon neutrality goal, announced various environmental protection policies including green industry innovation, and is working toward a sustainable future. These efforts cannot be solved by one country alone, and international cooperation and collective efforts are essential. The problem of climate change that we face is a global challenge that goes beyond national borders.
A similar situation is also occurring in Comoros, located in southeastern Africa. Comoros is a country that boasts beautiful coral reefs and a diverse marine ecosystem, and policies are being implemented to protect them. In particular, Comoros is trying to prevent resource depletion by designating marine protected areas and managing sustainable fisheries. In this regard, I wonder how much tangible results the coral reef restoration project is achieving and what direction the efforts to reduce dependence on imported energy are taking. I also wonder how international support is being provided for the environmental problems that Comoros is facing.
No country can afford to be complacent about the increasingly serious environmental problems. Each country must adopt environmental policies that are appropriate for its natural environment and geographical characteristics to respond to climate change. If we analyze each other’s environmental policies and seek effective solutions that are appropriate for each country’s situation, we will be able to preserve the Earth’s environment and achieve sustainable development. This global cooperation is the key to solving the climate change and environmental problems we face.
