Monaco is one of the smallest city-states in the world, but I’ve heard that its beauty and charm far exceed its size. When traveling from Korea to Monaco, there are several must-see landmarks, including the Monte Carlo Casino, the Oceanographic Museum, the Prince's Palace, the Grand Prix Circuit, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Among these, I’m particularly interested in visiting the Monte Carlo Casino and the Cathedral.
I know that the Monte Carlo Casino is famous for appearing in several James Bond films and that the interior is adorned with luxurious sculptures and artworks. I’m curious about what kinds of games are available there, which ones are the most popular, and what architectural style the building was designed in, since I’ve heard it’s quite lavish.
As for the Cathedral, I understand it's a religious structure built in the Gothic style, featuring stunning stained glass windows and a rose window that give it a sense of artistic beauty and grandeur. I’d like to know how it differs from the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and what kinds of religious events are held there in Monaco.
Lastly, I’d really appreciate it if you could share some photos showing the exterior and interior of these landmarks. And if you ever ask for photos related to Korea, I’d be happy to share pictures of Korean landscapes and beautifully blooming flowers from Korea in return.
April is the spring season in Korea, and during this month, many kinds of flowers bloom—such as azaleas, cherry blossoms, forsythias, royal azaleas, magnolias, and tulips. Because of this, many flower festivals and events are held in the spring. However, due to climate change, spring is becoming shorter, and recently, I’ve noticed that even during a time that should be warm, the mornings and nights still feel like winter. The weather keeps fluctuating between cold and warm, and it even snowed in March, when it normally shouldn't.
Korea is located on the eastern edge of Asia, and I think one possible reason for these changes could be the weakening of the jet stream due to climate change, which allows cold Arctic air to affect Korea. Just like Korea, I imagine that Monaco is also very concerned about climate change. Korea is actively implementing policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, innovating in waste recycling, and promoting ESG initiatives.
I understand that Monaco is also making efforts to combat climate change, such as having the Prince establish a foundation that has carried out 198 environmental projects, building thousands of underground parking lots, and providing free electric bicycles above ground.
Korea also provides education on climate change. So, I’m curious—does Monaco also offer education about climate change?
