Around 400 British delegates visiting Korea to participate in the 25th World Scout Jamboree commemorated the British veterans who fought in the Korean War by visiting the Salmari Battle Memorial Park in Jeoksung-myeon, Paju, with the support of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on the 8th, the British Scout delegates paid respects at the Salmari Battle Memorial. The Salmari Battle, which took place from April 22nd to 25th, 1951, in the Salmari area of Paju, was a battle where the British Gloucestershire Regiment fought against the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, including the 63rd Army, for four days at locations like Hill 235 in the Salmari area.
The battle, also known as the Battle of Gloster Hill, is commemorated by the memorial built in 2014.
Despite suffering significant casualties, including over 1,300 casualties, the British forces are credited with delaying the advance of the Chinese forces, contributing significantly to preventing the invasion of Seoul.
