Gyeonggi Province is stepping up to provide accommodation for the participants of the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree moving to the capital region.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that it aims to accommodate about 15,000 Jamboree participants by securing accommodation facilities. This decision comes following the judgment of the organizing committee that the event cannot continue due to the impact of Typhoon 'Kanun.'

Kim Sung-ho, Director of the Disaster and Safety Management Division of the Ministry of Public Administration and Safety, announced the emergency evacuation plan containing this information at the Jamboree press room in the afternoon.

Evacuation will take place sequentially from 10 a.m. on the 8th. A total of over 1,000 buses will be mobilized for this purpose. Interpreters will also be deployed for the convenience of communication with participants from different countries. It is expected to take over 6 hours for the entire movement, involving around 36,000 people.

The province is also assessing whether it can accommodate Jamboree participants in public buildings under its jurisdiction. If they stay in the province, they can be linked with sites such as Camp Greaves, Imjingak, and the DMZ Peace Tourism.

A provincial official stated, "We plan to provide comprehensive support for the establishment of accommodation facilities with a target of accommodating 15,000 people."
