As Typhoon 'Kanun' approaches the north, Jamboree participants are leaving the campgrounds. In Daejeon area alone, there are prospects for 1,400 participants to stay.

 

According to Daejeon City on the 8th, according to evacuation plans, Jamboree participants staying in Daejeon are 1,080 from Brazil and 320 from Vietnam. They will stay in Daejeon for about five days until the 12th and participate in cultural tourism programs prepared by the city.

 

The city, in cooperation with the Daejeon Fire Headquarters and Daejeon Police Agency, aims to manage the safety of Jamboree participants staying in the area and operate experiential cultural tourism programs to use as an opportunity for local promotion.

 

Initially, six institutions including local universities and corporate/public training centers provided accommodations for Jamboree participants, securing facilities for a total of 1,636 people.

 

Specifically, this includes Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Yeonsu Training Institute accommodating 480 people, Daejeon University 80 people, Daejeon University of Science and Technology 520 people, Daejeon Health College 200 people, and Woosong Information College 120 people.

 

Local cultural tourism programs such as experiencing the Science Capital Daejeon have been arranged. Plans include utilizing facilities such as the National Science Museum and Daejeon Expo Aquarium. The cost incurred by operating the programs will be borne by Daejeon City, the National Science Museum, and Shinsegae, respectively.

 

Locations such as Gyejoksan Hwangto Trail, Hanbat Arboretum, Natural Monument Center, and Dunsan Grand Park are also candidates for experiencing local ecological culture.

 

Participants will travel to Seoul to attend a K-pop concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 11th, then return to Daejeon after the performance, and are scheduled to return home after the Jamboree closing on the 12th.

 

Mayor Lee Chang-woo stated, "We will make every effort to support Jamboree participants to spend their time safely and comfortably in Daejeon," adding, "We will also make efforts in program operation to firmly carry the image of Science Capital Daejeon while staying in Daejeon."

 

Previously, participants of the '2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree' left the campgrounds as Typhoon 'Kanun' was forecasted to move towards the Korean Peninsula, heading to Seoul, Gyeonggi, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, Chungbuk, and eight other provinces.

 

According to the Jamboree organizing committee, over 36,000 participants from 156 countries boarded 1,022 buses prepared, heading to various accommodations. So far, the government has secured accommodations in a total of 128 locations, including 17 in Seoul, 66 in Gyeonggi, 8 in Incheon, 6 in Daejeon, 18 in Chungnam, 7 in Chungbuk, 3 in Sejong, and 3 in Jeonbuk.
