Hello My Name is Marry Lee. I am from Ulsan Korea... now I am a student of GINUE.
I was born in Ulsan Metropolitan City, and from an early age I often traveled to nearby places such as Gyeongju and Gangneung, which fostered my deep interest in local regions within Korea. I believe a region is not merely an administratively defined boundary, but rather a complex entity that encompasses its historical trajectory, natural environment such as seas, rivers, and forests, the seasonal colors that capture each time of year, and the people and their stories that give the place its character. Traveling to a place, therefore, is a precious opportunity to experience all of these elements together, which is why I enjoy not only domestic but also international travel.
저는 울산광역시에서 태어나 어린 시절부터 근방에 위치한 경주, 강릉 등으로 여행을 정말 자주 갔던 경험이 있어 국내 지역에 대한 관심이 많습니다. 한 지역은 단순히 행정적으로 분리해둔 범위에 그치는 것이 아니라 그 지역이 지나온 과거의 역사, 바다나 강, 녹음과 같은 자연환경과 각 계절마다 그 계절을 담아낸 색채, 지역을 이루고 있는 사람들과 그들의 이야기까지 다양한 요소들을 담고 있는 복합체라고 생각합니다. 따라서 한 공간에 여행을 간다는 것은 그 지역의 모든 요소들을 체험할 수 있는 소중한 시간이라고 생각하고, 그래서 국내는 물론 해외 여행도 매우 좋아하는 편입니다.
Among my recent trips, my visit to Gwangju left the strongest impression. I have always been deeply interested in social studies subjects such as history and geography, and Gwangju in summer was filled with the vivid greenery of the season. In particular, I was profoundly moved by studying Korea’s modern and contemporary history, especially the democratization movement, in the very locations I had previously encountered only through texts and videos. Being physically present in those places gave me an entirely different and more powerful sense of connection.
특히 최근에 다녀온 여행 중 가장 기억에 남았던 여행은 광주 여행이었습니다. 평소에도 역사나 지리 등 사회과 과목에 지대한 관심이 있었는데, 여름에 간 광주는 여름의 푸름을 그대로 담아낸 녹음이 가득했습니다. 또한 역사 중에서도 근현대사, 민주화 운동 부분을 매우 인상깊게 공부했는데, 글과 영상으로만 보던 장소에 제가 존재하게 되었을 때의 와닿음은 차원이 달랐던 것 같습니다.
