Hello everyone. My name is Njabulo Brian Mndzebele from Eswatini (Swaziland). I am 30 years old. Eswatini is a country located on the southern part of Africa, a small country landlocked by South Africa and Mozambique. We don't an ocean/sea in Eswatini, we can only go to the sea in South Africa or in Mozambique. Eswatini has a geographical area of about 17 300 km², with 4 regions/provinces (Hhohho, Manzini, Lubombo, Shiselweni). I grew up in Manzini region in a small city called Mankayane, where I was involved in a lot of community work including playing football, coaching netball and doing athletics for my community and my high school.

I went to the University of Eswatini to study my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management and Occupational Safety and Health degree. The university of Eswatini has 3 campuses, and I went to the faculty of health campus located in the capital city of Mbabane in Hhohho region, while the other 2 campuses are located in Manzini region.

While pursuing my degree at the university, I continued with sport, and I was nominated and won the elections as the director of sports for the university. The local national university of sport federation referred me to FISU (International University Sport Federation) on the year 2020, where I became a student ambassador. I obtained my degree and worked at the Ubombo sugar company, the biggest sugar company in Eswatini. Eswatini relies on agriculture, and sugar is referred to as the country's gold because it is the country's main export. While working at the sugar cane fields I developed a relationship with wild animals like hippopotamuses and leaned a lot on their habits. I also worked in the company's sugar mill as an Occupational health and safety officer. I would also inspect activities like sugar cane burning.

I then went to Russia on the year 2023, to pursue my master of sport administration. I had to adapt to the new weather, different food, different languages and I made a lot of friends.

I went to a mall in Russia, Sochi called the moremall, where I bought Korean food. I didn't have any relationship with South Korea and now I can see that it was fate. Now I badly wish to visit Korea, to explore Korea, not only the food but also the weather, places and a lot. In Russia, I continued playing football for Torino academy. Torino is football club that plays in Italian Serie A football league, but the club has an academy in Russia. I played for their academy and I managed to make friends with the club's coaches and scouts when they came to Russia on January 2024. I also coached the under 12 kids for Torino. On March 2024, in Sochi, Russia I attended the world youth festival as a volunteer. I enjoyed a lot of activities where I was involved in, like seminars where we discussed topics such as sustainability, diplomacy. I made a lot of friends. I graduated from my master of sport administration programme and went back to Eswatini.
That is a very interesting journey. You showed leadership in sports and even became a student ambassador, which is great. Working in the sugar company also sounds important since sugar is such a big part of Eswatini’s economy. It must have been special to see wild animals like hippos while working in the fields. I would like to know, what part of your work did you enjoy the most?
