Suriname's unique landform: Bolzberg dome
The Bolzberg Dome is located in the Suriname Nature Reserve in southwest Suriname. The Bolzberg Dome is a granite dome about 240 meters high. The dome is said to have been named after a German geographer. It appears as a huge, rounded, smoothly carved rock island that suddenly rises from the surrounding jungle. It is estimated that over millions of years, the surrounding ground has eroded away, leaving only the hard granite layer protruding.
I researched about the Boltzberg Dome in Suriname and asked on WhatsApp if anyone had actually seen this Dome and if so, could send me a photo.
Today's temperature is warm at 16 degrees, and cherry blossoms are blooming as spring arrives.
Today is warm like spring, but in March, there were many days when it was cold enough to snow. It should be warm since it starts spring in March, but it seems that winter is getting longer due to climate change and spring is getting shorter. Climate change has been getting worse recently, so I was curious about the current weather in Suriname and how climate change has changed the weather.
Suriname is one of the countries vulnerable to climate change. The northeastern coastal area, there 90% of the entire population of Suriname and major social infrastructure are concentrated, has suffered damage from coastal erosion and abnormal weather. For this reason, Suriname is trying to prevent climate change through environmental policies. Suriname is particularly committed to forest conservation, as most of its land is covered by forests. It is suppressing illegal logging and forest destruction, participating in international agreements to reduce forest destruction and store carbon, and working to reduce carbon emissions. Through this, Suriname has achieved carbon neutrality. It is also working to preserve biodiversity by designating nature reserves in several areas.
As I researched environmental policies in Suriname, I wanted to learn more about the environmental issues the country was gacing and what other environmental policies were in place besides forest conservation and biodiversity conservation.
