On the 11th, Yongin Special City announced that it would continue to
provide accommodation and meals for over 5,000 members who stayed behind due to
flight schedules and other reasons and couldn't depart on the 12th, from the
Sae Man Geum Jam Berry venue.
34 members from three countries, San Marino, Bhutan, and Belarus, who
were allocated temporary accommodation in Yongin, will depart on the 13th.
Upon learning that some Jam Berry members needed to stay in Korea for
an extra day due to various circumstances even after the event ended on the
12th, Mayor Lee Sang-il contacted Minister of Public Administration and
Security Lee In-myung on the evening of the 11th, proposing that the government
and local governments take responsibility for providing accommodation and meals
for those members who wouldn't be departing on the 12th.
In response, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security agreed
to support members who would be staying one or two more days in Korea according
to their departure schedules, with assistance from local governments,
corporations, and universities.
The city arranged for 15 members from San Marino and 10 from Bhutan
who had been living at the Samsung Life Human Center in Bojeong-dong,
Giheung-gu, and 9 members from Belarus who had stayed at other accommodations
in Yongin to stay at the center until the departure date of the 13th, providing
them with meals. The city also arranged transportation to ensure that the
members from the three countries arrive safely at the airport on the 13th,
considering their varied departure times.
The mayor stated, "We have resolved the accommodation issue for
members who will stay for about one more day with the determination to ensure
that all members who suddenly moved from Sae Man Geum to Yongin and continue
their Jam Berry activities can depart with peace of mind until the end."
He also expressed gratitude to all those involved in providing accommodation at
the Samsung Life Human Center for the 34 members from the three countries.
He continued, "I extend my gratitude to all officials of the 15
institutions including universities, corporate training centers, and churches
in Yongin who helped provide accommodation and various experiential activities
for about 40% of the members staying in Gyeonggi Province, as well as all city
officials, public officials, and citizens who volunteered." He added,
"I believe that Yongin has demonstrated its capabilities through this Jam
Berry support activity, and I hope that the members who stayed in Yongin will
have a good impression of the Republic of Korea and Yongin Special City."
