Hello, everyone! I'm Minseo Song, an Sejong Global High School student from Korea. I'm so glad to participate in this program - communicating with international friends, something I've always dreamed of!
My father often went on his business trip to Indonesia, and would bring back Indonesian gifts for me and my sister. He mentioned that Indonesia is one of the most important exporting countries for his company. I was quite unaware of Indonesia, so I asked him why. After my dad's explanation, I understood that not many Koreans know that Indonesia is the fourth rank in the statistic of world population. Furthermore, Indonesia had similar history with ours - Military dictatorship and democratization movement. I realized that Indonesia is inevitably significant partner of Korea due to these reasons - potential for trade, similar history and politics- so I chose Indonesia as my no.1 country to research! Saya menghargainya!
Have you ever heard about Wayang in Indonesia? One day, I watched some youtube videos about Wayang puppet shows. The videos showed me wonderful scenes that Wayang puppet can make. Today, let's explore Wayang puppets, amazing and sophisticated art!
Wayang Kulit is originated from Java and Bali. The performance goes with carved leather puppets (wayang golek), which are manipulated by a dalang, who voices multiple characters as well as moving them lively.
This is the video that I found Wayang Kulit. Some of the Korean who were interested in Indonesian ancient myths made this video to introduce the culture to Koreans.
It is consisted with simple shadows, but the shadows are so beautiful because of their flawless and elaborate carving. And also, check out this gorgeous video.
Not the shadows, but colorful and amazing puppets. All the faces, cloths color represent the personalities and their chore.
hello nice to know you Minseo Song!!, thank you for your respect to my beloved country Indonesia, and choose as your first country to research, if you don't mind to interact with me to know more about Indonesia, Thank you!
