About Malawi
Malawi is located in Southeast Africa, with a population of about 21.47 million. All tribes in Malawi have their own languages or dialects, with Chichewa being the official language of Malawi.
Lake Malawi
Lake Malawi, the third deepest freshwater lake globally, is home to 800-1000 types of fish. It supports 56,000 fishers and benefits over 1.6 million people. Challenges such as overfishing and pollution pose significant threats., but its rich wildlife offers tourism opportunities, especially with its colorful 'Mbuna' fishes. Further investment in local businesses, fish farming, and eco-tourism has the potential to boost the economy.
Nsima, culinary tradition of Malawi
"Nsima" is a traditional Malawian dish that encompasses the country's food culture, typically consumed as a cornmeal-based soup for dinner. Regional variations depend on accompanying dishes; in the south, it's served with meat and beans, in the central region with meat and fish, and in the north with fish and meat dishes. Preparation requires knowledge of ingredients and cooking techniques. Women responsible for cooking often grind the corn and sing chants during the meal preparation. Mealtime in Malawi is seen as a communal event, where Nsima and various dishes prepared by multiple households are enjoyed together.
"Improving
Education in Malawi: Focus on Girls' Education"
In South Korea, except for a few schools,
education is free up to high school.
I have heard that public primary school is
free in Malawi. But secondary school is not. Also, less than half of all
school-age girls in Malawi complete primary school. Many girls in Malawi drop
out of school to marry early and help support their families. I think Malawi
should focus more on education. Malawi needs to help girls complete basic
education. Because lack of education doesn’t provide knowledge and skills
necessary for progress and survival. If the lack of education continues and
becomes a cycle, the problem will get worse. I hope Malawi doesn’t experience
such a cycle, and I’d like to know your thoughts about this problem. If you’d
like to tell me more, please leave a comment.
