From South Korea to the United States: Bridging Cultures, Healing Hearts, and Leading with Resilience

Hello everyone!

My name is Sunny Jeong, and I am a professor, writer, and global speaker currently based in Ohio, USA. I was born and raised in South Korea, and my academic journey has taken me across continents—through Seoul, Illinois, and now to the heart of the Midwest.

I hold a Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport and Tourism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MSLIS) from the same university, and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Seoul National University. This interdisciplinary background reflects my passion for connecting people, ideas, and cultures through both academic and community-based work.

Currently, I serve as Associate Professor and Director of the International Business Program at Wittenberg University in Ohio. My teaching and research focus on cross-cultural leadership, emotional intelligence, diversity and inclusion, and global citizenship education.

In addition to my academic role, I am a certified trainer in mindfulness and emotional intelligence (SIYLI, developed and tested at Google), and I regularly lead workshops on healing-centered leadership, resilience, and intercultural communication. I believe these are the core life skills that today’s students—and tomorrow’s leaders—need in an increasingly complex world.
