National Museum of Qatar
Designed by: Jean Nouvel
Appearance: Designed to resemble the rose-shaped limestone crystals found in the desert (Desert Rose). Thanks to its unique and futuristic appearance, it is attracting attention from the world's architectural world.
Meaning: It is a central space that encompasses Qatar's history, culture, and natural scenery, and is said to be used as a core space for the national brand.
Question:
What aspects of Qatari tradition can foreign visitors most easily understand through this museum?
Additionally, I'm curious about the significance of this museum as a landmark in Qatar.
Question:
As Qatar has a desert climate, I would love to see photographs that capture its desert landscapes. In particular, I'm interested in images of the 'Khor Al Adaid' beach near Doha.I've heard that this area offers a unique scenery where the sea encroaches upon the desert, creating a remarkable landscape.Additionally, it's said to be a natural haven where one can observe fish, crustaceans, and turtles.I'm eager to witness the beauty of this desert environment through photographs.

These days, Korea is enjoying the full arrival of spring. The days are warm and sunny, with temperatures around 20°C, but the evenings are still cool, so people usually wear a light jacket. Recently, spring flowers like cherry blossoms and azaleas have started to bloom all across the cities. In particular, the cherry blossoms are now in full bloom, making the scenery even more refreshing. That’s why many people are enjoying the spring weather by walking along cherry blossom trails or spending time outdoors to soak in the beauty of the season.
However, even in the middle of this beautiful spring, signs of climate change are clearly noticeable. In recent years, spring has been getting shorter, and sudden heatwaves or cold snaps, as well as unpredictable weather changes, have become more frequent. This year, too, the cherry blossoms bloomed earlier than usual, and there have been many hazy days caused by smog and yellow dust. These phenomena are all consequences of global warming and climate change, and they are increasingly affecting our lives.
That’s why we should go beyond simply enjoying the weather and start taking climate change seriously by considering more sustainable ways of living.
Qatar has traditionally had an economy centered around oil and natural gas, but in recent years, it has been implementing various policies to address environmental issues. One impressive example was during the preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where eco-friendly stadiums were designed with sustainability and carbon neutrality in mind. The use of solar energy, smart cooling systems, and recyclable materials went beyond a temporary event and became part of a long-term urban development strategy. Qatar is also laying the groundwork for a sustainable future through its “National Environment and Climate Change Strategy 2030,” which includes reducing carbon emissions, expanding renewable energy, and building smart cities. So I have a question. Besides these national-level efforts, are there any environmental activities or educational programs that citizens in Qatar can easily participate in as part of their daily lives?
Hi! I’m Junho You! 😊
I’m a high school student in Korea, and I’m really interested in materials science and engineering. I find it fascinating how new materials can change the world, especially in areas like energy and the environment.
These days, I’m also really interested in Qatar! It’s a country leading the energy industry, and I’d love to learn more about its technologies and culture. If you’re curious about Qatar too, or if you know something interesting, let’s talk! I’d be happy to share ideas.
Also, if you want to know anything about Korea—whether it’s K-pop, food, or culture—feel free to ask me anytime!
And by the way, I love playing badminton, so if you’re into sports, we have something in common! 😄
