Hi Alice, does Brazil have prominent dialects of Portuguese, or is it quite homogenous the whole nation over? In New Zealand we have a small population of five million, but due to our numerous remote island communities and the stark isolation faced, there can be audible differences in the Kiwi twang. - Miro from New Zealand
Hii Miro! Sorry for the late answer. In Brazil, we only have our one dialect: the Portuguese language. As we are a very large country, however, we have many different types of accents. We can distinguish accents by region or state. For example, people who live in the south have one type of accent. But in the southeast region, we have the ‘carioca’ accent, which is from Rio de Janeiro, the ‘paulista’ accent, which comes from Sao Paulo, and the mineiro accent, which comes from Minas Gerais, all within the southeast region.
