Professor Deok-Soo Kim, a founder of "Space Map" visited the GG Summer School.
He is well-known as one of the most active researchers at Hanyang University, and recently, he has ventured into a new research field and even founded a startup. His company, "Space Map," has a name that resonates closely with the mission of GGS!
In China, space geography has already been introduced as an elective subject in high school geography. The United States, with the rapid growth of companies like SpaceX, has solidified its position as a hub of the space industry. South Korea has also recently established the Aerospace Agency, aiming to become one of the top five space powers globally.
Recently, even National Geographic published a special issue heralding the dawn of the "Space Age." As a pioneering discipline, geography is essential in opening the space era. Space Map, in particular, is gaining attention in the U.S. and Japan by targeting niche markets that Western companies have overlooked, making it a notable homegrown company.
Here is his excellent lecture at GG Summer School 2024.
