Hi everyone! I’m Jiwoo from South Korea. I’d like to tell you a bit about the current weather in South Korea.
These days, we’re in the middle of spring. The temperatures are quite mild, usually ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) during the day. It's warm enough to enjoy the outdoors, but cool enough to still need a light jacket in the morning and evening. Lately, there is a big temperature difference between day and night.
The cherry blossoms are blooming in most parts of the country, especially in Seoul and Busan.
The skies are generally clear, although there can be occasional spring rain showers that help everything grow.
However, we sometimes experience "yellow dust" blowing in from China, so it’s a good idea to check the air quality before going outside.
I think the notable features of spring weather in South Korea is yellow dust, known as ‘Hwangsa’ in Korean.
In spring, South Korea often experiences Hwangsa, which comes from deserts in China and Mongolia. It carries fine dust and pollutants, affecting air quality and health. Yellow dust is linked to environmental issues like desertification and climate change. That’s why it’s not just a seasonal event, but also a global environmental concern.
