Hello, my GG friends!
My name is Haeunn, and I’m a member of the first cohort of GG Summer School. Let me start by introducing myself briefly.
I live in Gwacheon, a planned administrative city in South Korea. Did you know? The sLet me start by introducing myself briefly. I live in Gwacheon, a planned administrative city in South Korea. Did you know? The subway station in my town is actually called Government Complex Gwacheon Station! It’s because there are so many government buildings all over Gwacheon."
I attend Unsan High School, a pretty ordinary public high school with a unique name. Unsan means "cloud" and "mountain," which makes sense because there’s a mountain named Cloud Mountain right next to our school. 😊
As for my dream, I want to see the world from a broader perspective and make the world my stage. This dream has been heavily inspired by the experiences I had during the first GG Summer School.
Last summer was an incredible experience for me. I had the chance to talk with amazing friends like Elliss from the UK and Naila from Indonesia. We exchanged stories about our cultures and learned so much from each other. Plus, we got to hear from pioneers in various fields like space exploration, climate science, AI, and law. Their insights taught me important qualities like turning ideas into action, geographic observation, and geographic imagination. Every lecture was so engaging, and I left feeling inspired to live a more proactive life.
Korea is still in the middle of winter, but I’m so excited about the 2nd GG Summer School. I really hope to see you here in Korea! If you work hard on your GG Friends activities and become an ambassador, we’ll be able to meet here. Did you know that Korean students will be the ones choosing you? If you want to meet us in Korea, you need to complete these three missions:
First, participate in the LCD project happening this February.
Second, research plastic waste for World Environment Day, which will be held in Korea this summer.
Third, analyze either your country’s geography/history textbooks or how Korea is perceived in your society.
And don’t forget to connect with Korean students through WhatsApp and leave comments on the Saebomi education platform! Getting a lot of likes will increase your chances of becoming the Connectography Champion, which means a higher chance of coming to Korea.
I really hope to see you in Korea. Let’s meet this summer! Take care, and see you in Korea! Bye! 😊
