Hello, I'm Bethany from Philippines.
Travelling to South Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree was an adventure in itself, but my main takeaway from this event would be to expect the unexpected. Heading there, being there, and leaving, were all filled with setbacks that made it quite a journey. The traffic, missing our flight to SoKor, almost missing our flight again back to the Philippines, meeting wholesome people, having fun, fighting for dear life, experiencing various cultures, sharing our culture, and representing the Philippines in an international event, made it so fulfilling to have gone and rode the waves. WSJ '24 showed me how much hardships I could withstand—the heat wave, the typhoon, culture shocks, limited resources, and being responsible for my own self all throughout that fourteen-day travel. The overwhelming feeling of pride will last me a lifetime, meeting thousands of catalysts for change through the scouting movement; proving that there is hope in the youth for a better world, and that pure and genuine hearts will always have a place in today's times. Being immersed in such opportunity was an honor, especially as a young Filipina.
